To improve Amazon Luna, start by checking your network connection, then verify Fire TV’s resolution and HDMI setup. If you play on a supported Fire TV Smart TV, try Game picture mode and its gaming options. These steps can address different problems, but none guarantees a particular Luna resolution: Amazon says stream quality and latency depend on the device, location, connection, available bandwidth, and subscription status, and may be optimized when bandwidth is constrained. Amazon does not guarantee the resolution or quality you receive.
First identify what is going wrong
“Blurry” or soft video, buffering, stutter or tearing, and delayed controls are not the same symptom. Network checks are the best starting point for buffering or fluctuating quality. A display or HDMI issue can affect how the picture appears, while Game mode and related TV features may help with local display smoothness or input lag on supported setups. Changing a resolution setting does not by itself fix network delay.

Check the connection before changing picture settings
- Check Fire TV’s network status. Open Settings and look for Network; confirm the device is connected to the network you intend to use.
- Test Wi-Fi placement. If performance fluctuates, move Fire TV closer to the router and try Luna again. Amazon lists bandwidth and connection as factors in stream quality and latency, and recommends checking bandwidth and moving the device closer as part of Fire TV troubleshooting. - Try wired Ethernet if your model supports it. Amazon’s troubleshooting guidance suggests testing a wired connection with an adapter. Ethernet support varies by Fire TV model, so check your device before buying or connecting an accessory. Amazon’s Fire TV device guide identifies model differences.
These are diagnostic steps, not a promise that Luna will reach a specific resolution or stop every interruption. Fire TV device features and navigation also differ by model. Amazon’s Fire TV home-screen guide notes that the experience varies across devices.
Verify Fire TV’s output resolution and the HDMI chain
If the picture looks soft even when the connection seems stable, check that Fire TV and the television are using a resolution supported by the connected equipment. Amazon’s 4K troubleshooting steps are general Fire TV display guidance; they do not establish that Luna streams games in 4K.

- Open Fire TV’s Display & Sounds settings and review the display resolution or output mode available for your device.
- Check that the HDMI cable is firmly connected and that the selected TV input and port are appropriate for the desired display mode.
- If a receiver or soundbar sits between Fire TV and the TV, check that it supports the signal being passed through.
- On Fire TV models that include it, use Audio/Video Diagnostics to review the capabilities Fire TV detects for connected equipment.
If Fire TV detects a lower capability than expected, inspect the cable, port, and any pass-through device before assuming the Luna stream itself is the cause. Amazon’s 4K Ultra HD troubleshooting guide covers resolution detection and connected equipment.
On a Fire TV Smart TV, try Game picture mode
These gaming options apply to supported Fire TV Smart TVs and compatible connected gaming devices. They affect the TV’s handling of the displayed signal; they do not force Luna to deliver a particular stream resolution or bandwidth.

- Open Quick Settings > Picture > Picture Mode > Game.
- Go to Input Settings > HDMI > Input Mode, then choose Auto or Gaming if offered for the relevant input.
- In the Game settings, enable VRR and ALLM if your TV and connected device support them.

If the issue appears limited to the Fire TV picture rather than Luna’s connection, check for a Fire TV software update, restart the device, and test the picture modes available on your model. Retest changes one at a time
After each adjustment, try the same game under similar conditions before changing something else. This makes it easier to tell whether the change addressed the symptom—network placement, for example, versus a display-mode adjustment—without treating any one setting as a universal fix.

Luna’s stream quality is adaptive and conditional. Amazon’s terms name the compatible device, location, connection, available bandwidth, and subscription status as factors in resolution, quality, and latency; they also say Amazon may optimize quality when bandwidth constraints threaten playback.
