Each size comes in a version for children 3 and up and a version for children 6 and up. In the US, starting prices are $229.99 for the 8.7-inch model and $329.99 for the 11-inch model. Preorders opened October 8, 2026, and shipping was announced for October 14. The specifications, prices, and dates below come from Amazon’s October 8, 2026 announcement. They are Amazon’s own claims, not results from independent testing.
The two models compared
The two sizes share the same age positioning and launch structure. Their stated hardware differs in ways that matter for choosing between them. Where Amazon’s announcement does not give a figure, the table says so rather than filling the gap.

Which size fits your child
The 8.7-inch model is the lower-priced option at launch, and it is the only model for which Amazon states a battery-playback figure. The 11-inch model adds a 2.5K display, 8 GB of RAM, and stylus support. If stylus use is the reason you are buying, the 11-inch is the only one of the two that Amazon says supports one. Amazon does not say whether a stylus comes in the box.

Which age version: 3+ or 6+
Each size is sold in a 3+ version and a 6+ version. The announcement separates the two mainly by age positioning and by the case that comes in the box. It presents one specification list per screen size, not separate specifications for each age version.
- 3+ versions come with a soft bumper case, which Amazon describes for younger children.
- 6+ versions come with a slim hard case, for older children.
Amazon’s Japan release adds character designs. It names a Japan-only Chiikawa design for the 6+ versions and Paw Patrol designs among the Japanese configurations. These are not described as available in the US or Europe.
Software, Google Play, and parental controls
Both tablets run Android. Amazon’s Japan release describes the series as the first Amazon tablets to support the Google Play Store, and says guardians can select and manage apps individually through parental controls. In the US announcement, Amazon says parents manage Google Play app access through Parent Dashboard, and that every download needs parental approval.
Amazon describes Parent Dashboard as covering:
- Remote management of screen time
- Content filters
- Activity monitoring
The announcement puts the approval rule this way: “Every download goes through parental approval, so kids get more room to explore and parents stay in control.” Attribute that line to Amazon’s official announcement, which names no individual spokesperson. These are the controls Amazon says it provides. The announcement does not show how well they perform in practice, and it does not establish that any particular app is suitable for a given age.
The included case and Kids+ subscription
Each tablet ships with a kid-proof case and one year of Amazon Kids+, a curated selection of apps, videos, games, and books. Amazon says Kids+ also works on other compatible Amazon devices.
After the included year, Amazon’s announcement lists these recurring US prices:
- $7.99 per month for Prime members
- $8.99 per month for non-Prime customers
Subscription terms can change, so check the current Kids+ terms before planning the budget for year two. The announcement does not name a replacement case that fits the new dimensions. Confirm compatibility with the specific model before buying one.

These are Japan’s own launch prices. They are not converted from US dollars, and they should not be compared directly with the US figures without checking the exchange rate at purchase. Launch prices and ship dates are the figures most likely to change, so check the Amazon listing for your country before ordering.
How the new names fit Amazon’s existing kids lineup
Amazon’s kids devices buying guide describes the earlier Fire Kids and Fire Kids Pro tablets as separate product lines, each with its own age and size positioning. The new products are sold as Amazon Kids Tablet 8 and Amazon Kids Tablet 11. Older model names such as Fire HD 8 Kids Pro do not apply to these devices, so use the new names when you search or compare listings.
