Choose the Roku Streaming Stick 4K (model 3820R2) if Dolby Vision support, Roku’s interface, or its included voice remote’s TV controls matter more. Neither is a universal winner: check your TV’s HDR formats, the streaming apps you use, and the price available in your country before buying.
Fire TV Stick 4K vs. Roku Streaming Stick 4K: the key differences
This comparison is between Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K (3rd Gen, 2026) and Roku’s Streaming Stick 4K (3820R2), not every product sold under either brand’s broader name. Amazon’s lineup includes multiple Fire TV Stick generations and tiers, so confirm the model before comparing specifications or placing an order.

|---|---|---|
| Resolution and HDR formats listed | 4K Ultra HD and HDR10+. Amazon device specifications | 4K, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+. Roku product page |
| Wireless description | Wi-Fi 6, according to Amazon’s specifications. | Long-range Wi-Fi, according to Roku; a Wi-Fi generation is not stated on the product page. |
| Platform and voice | Fire TV content-provider access and Alexa. Amazon Fire TV overview | Roku apps and voice search through the included remote. Roku product page |
| Remote and setup details listed | Amazon describes a redesigned remote for this generation. The overview does not specify all remote functions. | Voice Remote with TV power, volume, and mute controls; Roku describes plug-in setup over Wi-Fi. Its TV controls work with most TVs, not necessarily every model. |
| Price information | The cited Amazon specifications page is not a live retailer price quote. | Roku’s US product page displayed $44.99 as a limited-time offer against a $79.99 reference price when accessed October 7, 2026. Which one should you choose?
Choose Fire TV if Alexa and Fire TV fit your preferences
Amazon documents Alexa and access to major content providers as part of the Fire TV experience. If you already prefer Fire TV or want Alexa voice interaction, the Fire TV Stick 4K (3rd Gen, 2026) is the more natural fit. Amazon lists Wi-Fi 6 for this model, but that specification alone does not establish that it will be faster or more reliable than Roku in your home.
Choose Roku if Dolby Vision or its remote suits your setup
Roku lists Dolby Vision and HDR10+ for the Streaming Stick 4K, along with voice search and a remote with TV power, volume, and mute controls. Roku also says its current product page offers 500+ free TV channels, including live news and weather; that is Roku’s own page claim, not an independently audited channel count.

Let your TV and streaming services break a tie
Check that the TV has an available HDMI port, then verify its resolution and HDR support. Roku says 4K, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ playback require compatible TV and content; on an incompatible setup, output follows the TV’s supported resolution, such as HD. An advertised format does not improve picture quality if the television or the title you watch does not support it. Also check that your specific services are available on the platform in your region: the official overview pages are not a comprehensive, region-specific app comparison.
What the Wi-Fi specifications do—and do not—tell you
Amazon lists Wi-Fi 6 for its 2026 Fire TV Stick 4K. Roku describes the Streaming Stick 4K’s receiver as long-range Wi-Fi but does not specify a Wi-Fi generation on its product page. These are different descriptions, not comparable speed or reliability measurements. The available specifications do not establish which stick performs better under the same router, distance, and network conditions.

Check the exact model and local price before buying
Amazon’s device listing includes the Fire TV Stick 4K (3rd Gen, 2026) alongside other models, including the 2025 4K Plus and 4K Select and the 2023 4K and 4K Max. Their names and generations matter; do not assume that a specification for one applies to another. Amazon lists the 2026 3rd Gen model as 4K, HDR10+, Wi-Fi 6, powered directly through a TV USB port, and supplied with a redesigned remote. See the Amazon device specifications and Fire TV overview.
