Choose an Amazon Alexa Tablet if you want Alexa+ built in, Android with Google Play access, and a lower announced starting price. Choose the M5 iPad Pro if you want iPadOS, Apple Pencil support, Apple’s high-end hardware, and a Tandem OLED display. For work or creative tasks, compare the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro with the iPad Pro in your preferred size—and include any keyboard or stylus you need in the total cost.
First, know which tablets are being compared
“Amazon Alexa tablets” refers here to Amazon’s new 2026 lineup: the Alexa Tablet 8, Alexa Tablet 11, and Alexa Tablet 12 Pro. Amazon says the new models run Android, include Google Play Store access, and have Alexa+ built in. They are distinct from older Fire tablets, so older Fire-tablet feature descriptions should not automatically be applied to this new line. Amazon’s October 9, 2026 announcement introduced the lineup and its launch details.

Apple’s comparison is the current M5 iPad Pro, offered in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes and running iPadOS. Apple’s technical specifications describe its display, chip, memory configurations, and accessory support.
Which operating system and apps fit your needs?
Choose Amazon for Android and Amazon services
Amazon says the new tablets include Google Play access, with apps such as YouTube, Netflix, Gmail, and Google Docs, alongside Prime Video, Kindle, Audible, Amazon Music, and Amazon Luna. Alexa+ is built in and can be invoked by voice or a screen button. Amazon describes it as able to help with smart-home control and on-screen context. Amazon’s launch announcement says On-Screen Intelligence is off by default, requires opt-in, and displays a visual indicator when Alexa can see the screen.

Choose iPad Pro for iPadOS and Apple’s ecosystem
Apple lists iPadOS, Siri voice activation, and Apple Intelligence support for iPad Pro. If you depend on a particular work, creative, accessibility, or entertainment app, check that app’s availability and features on your chosen platform before buying. Google Play access does not guarantee that every app works identically on Android and iPadOS.
Amazon’s separate Alexa support FAQ discusses hands-free use and Show Mode on “certain Fire tablets.” It says eligible devices use on-device keyword spotting and send audio to Amazon’s cloud after detecting the wake word, including a fraction of a second before it; indicators show when audio is streaming. That FAQ is specific to certain Fire tablets, not proof that the new Alexa Tablet models behave the same way. Amazon’s Alexa and Alexa Device FAQs provides that Fire-tablet information.

How do the screens and hardware compare?
| Model | Screen and hardware | Best fit by size or feature |
|---|---|---|
| Alexa Tablet 8 | 8.7-inch display; 329 g | Amazon positions it for portability, reading, browsing, and streaming. |
| Alexa Tablet 11 | 11-inch, 2560 × 1600 IPS display at 276 ppi; 8 GB RAM; 64 GB or 128 GB storage; MediaTek MT8189; Wi-Fi 6; 8 MP front and rear cameras | A mid-size option for browsing, reading, streaming, and gaming. |

| iPad Pro (11-inch or 13-inch) | Tandem OLED Ultra Retina XDR display with ProMotion from 10 Hz to 120 Hz; M5 chip; 12 GB unified memory in 256/512 GB models and 16 GB in 1/2 TB models | Apple’s premium tablet option, with two screen sizes and Apple Pencil support. |
Amazon’s Alexa Tablet 11 specifications and Alexa Tablet 12 Pro specifications give the listed hardware details. Amazon describes the 12 Pro as having a 120 Hz display, a 4 nm eight-core chip, and four Dolby Atmos speakers; these are manufacturer descriptions, not independent performance findings. Apple lists maximum SDR brightness of 1,000 nits and peak HDR brightness of 1,600 nits for the iPad Pro display. See Apple’s technical specifications.
The 12 Pro is the closest Amazon model in this lineup to consider alongside an iPad Pro for a larger-screen, work-oriented purchase, but their display technologies, operating systems, and accessories differ. The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro has an IPS screen; iPad Pro has Tandem OLED. The available specifications do not establish which feels faster in everyday use.

What will each cost, including accessories?
Amazon announced these US starting prices on October 9, 2026. Starting configurations differ, so these figures are not a same-storage comparison.

These prices and configurations come from Amazon’s October 9, 2026 announcement. What do the battery claims actually tell you?
The manufacturers publish different maximum-use claims, not results from a shared test. Amazon advertises up to 14 hours of video playback for Alexa Tablet 8, 15 hours for Alexa Tablet 11, and 16 hours for Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, plus up to 20 hours of reading in the Kindle environment. Apple states up to 10 hours of Wi-Fi web surfing or video playback for iPad Pro, and up to 9 hours of web surfing on cellular models. Because the stated activities and conditions differ, these figures do not establish which tablet lasts longer in comparable everyday use. Sources: Amazon and Apple.
