What changes on Switch 2?
The Switch 2 Edition lists improved resolution and text visibility, mouse control support for menu selection and character movement, and the ability to control cursor movement and some buttons with Joy-Con 2 (L). Nintendo does not publish resolution figures, frame-rate measurements, or other performance benchmarks in the listing, so these features should not be read as quantified performance claims.
The original Nintendo Switch version is a separate digital listing. Nintendo’s Canada page marks it as supported on Switch 2, with game behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch; that compatibility notice is distinct from the extra features specified for the Switch 2 Edition. Which version should you buy?
- New buyer with a Switch 2: Compare the separately listed Switch 2 Edition if you want the named resolution, text-visibility, and control enhancements. It is a digital combined release.
- Existing owner of Alphadia I & II: Nintendo lists a digital upgrade pack that explicitly requires the base game. The pack’s download size is not the size of the base games, and the pack listing does not say it includes them. Check that the base game is associated with the Nintendo Account you plan to use, then verify the region-specific eligibility and live price on the storefront before purchasing.
- Buyer considering the original Switch listing: It is separately sold as a digital game and is marked compatible with Switch 2, but Nintendo describes its behavior as consistent with the Switch version rather than listing the Switch 2 Edition’s additional features.
Nintendo’s US Switch 2 Edition listing shows file-size metadata of 1 GB for Nintendo Switch and 1.5 GB for Nintendo Switch 2. Its upgrade-pack listing gives estimated sizes of 1.2 GB for Nintendo Switch and 3 MB for Nintendo Switch 2. KEMCO’s product page lists Alphadia I & II for iOS, Android, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, Nintendo Switch, Epic Games, and GOG.com, and identifies the game as single-player. That is publisher-wide platform information, not evidence that other versions include Switch 2 controls or presentation features.
