The Alienware AW3926QW is a 39-inch curved ultrawide with a 5120×2160 OLED panel, running at up to 165Hz at its native resolution. Its alternate 330Hz mode drops to 2560×1080, so it is not a way to get 330Hz at 5K2K. The RGB-stripe panel and sharp text make it more appealing for work than many gaming OLEDs, but its glossy screen, OLED burn-in exposure, and demanding native resolution call for the right room, habits, and graphics card.
What the Alienware AW3926QW offers
Dell describes the AW3926QW as its first 39-inch 5K monitor with RGB-stripe tandem OLED technology. It combines a 21:9 aspect ratio with 5120×2160 resolution, giving you a wide workspace with substantially more vertical detail than a typical 3440×1440 ultrawide. RTINGS describes the display as a curved, glossy OLED with RGB subpixels and no dedicated white subpixel. Dell’s product page and RTINGS’ review provide the respective product and testing details.

Resolution and refresh modes
| Mode | Resolution | Refresh rate |
|---|---|---|
| Native | 5120×2160 | 165Hz |
| Dual Mode | 2560×1080 | 330Hz |
The 330Hz setting is useful if you prioritize refresh rate in fast competitive games, but it halves the pixel dimensions in each direction compared with native mode. Fine detail and workspace take a clear hit. For cinematic games, detailed image quality, and everyday desktop use, the native 165Hz mode is the more natural fit. Tom’s Guide’s review also lists the two refresh modes.

How it performs for gaming
RTINGS reports low input lag and sharp motion, qualities that suit a high-refresh gaming display. At native resolution, however, the monitor has 11,059,200 pixels to render per frame. That workload makes a capable graphics card important, especially in demanding games; lowering graphics settings or using upscaling may be necessary to pursue high frame rates. PC Gamer’s review likewise cautions that 5K2K gaming calls for a capable GPU.

VRR flicker in dark scenes
Variable refresh rate (VRR) can make motion smoother when frame rates vary, but RTINGS reports distracting flicker when frame rates fluctuate in dark scenes. This behavior may matter more in games with dark environments and unstable performance than in titles with steadier frame delivery. If you notice it, test the game with VRR disabled; doing so can reduce smoothness when frame rates vary, so the better setting depends on the game and your tolerance.
Is text clear enough for work?
Text clarity is a notable strength. RTINGS reports sharp text without visible fringing, and the RGB-stripe subpixel layout is a meaningful distinction for desktop use. The 5120×2160 canvas also gives you room for multiple windows, detailed timelines, or large documents without giving up the ultrawide format.

- QD-OLED technology enables stunningly rich color and clarity, while QHD resolution (2560x1440) provides high level of detail.
- 360Hz refresh rate translates to superb motion clarity, empowering players to see and react to in-game situations at high speed.
- 0.03 ms gray-to-gray minimum response time** virtually eliminates blurring and ghosting and keeps latency to an absolute minimum.
- Infinite contrast ratio and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 make for deep blacks and stunning brights, all in the same scene.
- Excellent color performance with DCI-P3 99.3% color coverage and Delta E<2 accuracy for true-to-life visuals.
The glossy coating has a trade-off: it can make the image look clear, but reflections can distract in a bright or sunny room. RTINGS flags this as a concern. If your desk faces a window or strong light source, consider whether you can control the lighting before choosing this display.

A 39-inch curved ultrawide needs more desk width and viewing distance than a standard monitor. Tom’s Guide notes that it calls for a relatively large desk. Measure the available space and consider where the stand or mount will sit, along with room for speakers, a laptop, and other desk equipment. VESA mounting is listed by Tom’s Guide, but confirm the monitor’s mounting pattern and weight in the official manual before choosing an arm.

- QUALITY ASSURANCE GUARANTEED: The new Alienware 34 Curved QD-OLED Gaming Monitor comes with improved OLED reliability and a 3-year premium warranty, including coverage for OLED burn-in, for additional peace of mind.
Ports and laptop use
Tom’s Guide lists two HDMI ports, one DisplayPort, USB-B, two USB-C ports, and two USB-A ports. RTINGS says USB-C supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and up to 90W power delivery, which can make a single-cable laptop connection practical for video and charging. Port details may vary by region, so check the specifications for the exact market and model before planning a setup. RTINGS’ specifications cover USB-C support, while Tom’s Guide lists the connections.
OLED strengths and long-term considerations
Reviewers describe deep blacks and vivid color, core OLED strengths that can make games and video look striking. The technology also calls for sensible care: RTINGS identifies a burn-in risk from persistent static elements. If the display will spend long sessions showing fixed taskbars, application panels, or dashboards, vary the content and use available screen-care features. Warranty terms and burn-in coverage are not established here, so check the current terms for your region before purchase.

How it compares with the LG 39GX950B
The LG 39GX950B is a close alternative on the headline figures: TechSpot says both models are 39-inch 5K2K tandem WOLED displays with a 165Hz native refresh rate. The distinction is not simply resolution or refresh; TechSpot highlights differences in subpixel arrangement and coating. It views the Alienware’s RGB layout and glossy coating as clearer for text, while a matte coating may be preferable when handling reflections is the priority. TechSpot’s comparison discusses those differences.
