What this Alfred offline translation workflow does
The workflow was announced by Reddit user kkuj as an alternative after the author encountered rejected HTTPS requests from another Alfred Gallery translation workflow. The author’s explanation is: “My workflow relies on a translation framework that has been built in since macOS 26.” That is the creator’s description, not an independent audit of the workflow or a guarantee from Apple. The creator’s announcement presents the workflow as using macOS’s built-in translation framework, but it does not independently establish that every workflow action stays on-device or that translation works with the Mac disconnected from the internet. Nor does the announcement document whether language assets need to be downloaded, whether an account is required, or whether any setup calls a remote service.

If offline operation or privacy is essential, inspect the workflow manual and source before using it with sensitive text. Confirm the minimum macOS version, whether language data is already available or must be fetched, and whether any action contacts a server. Do not treat “uses a built-in framework” as proof that all processing is local.
What you need to use it
- Alfred with Powerpack: Alfred classifies Workflows as a Powerpack feature. Its general documentation explains that workflows can be installed from the Alfred Gallery or by downloading and importing a workflow file; it does not specify the target workflow’s exact installation sequence. - macOS 26, according to the creator: The announcement identifies the built-in macOS 26 translation framework as a dependency. It does not establish support for earlier macOS releases.
- The workflow’s own instructions: Use the linked manual to check prerequisites and configuration rather than assuming generic Alfred import guidance covers every step.
The available information establishes no required physical purchase. In particular, it does not support buying a new Mac or external storage specifically for this workflow.

Language support and default translation settings
The creator describes their basic use case as Polish-English and cautions that they may miss issues with other language pairs. That is not a complete language-support list. A Reddit commenter asked about automatically translating to English without typing “>en”; the creator replied that a default language pair can be configured and gave Spanish-English as an example. Treat this as community guidance about intended configuration, not a definitive support matrix. Check the manual for the exact syntax and supported pairs.
Other offline translation approaches are different projects
“Offline translation in Alfred” can refer to several distinct designs. The macOS-framework workflow should not be confused with projects that bundle dictionaries or use a local language model.
