For affordable self-framing, the AKASO Brave 7 LE is a conditional pick: it pairs a front screen with 4K30 video, but its bare body is splash resistant rather than suitable for underwater use. Choose the standard Brave 7 if you want the camera itself rated for underwater use without a housing, or consider a 4K60 model if higher advertised frame rates matter more than the documented performance concerns.
Which AKASO action camera should you choose?
There is no single best AKASO action camera for every buyer. The key trade-off is between front-screen framing, waterproofing, advertised video modes, and the limits reported in independent testing.

| Model | Video mode listed | Screen and waterproofing | Useful qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brave 7 LE | 4K30 | Front screen; IPX7 splash resistance. Underwater use requires the supplied housing. | Have Camera Will Travel lists a 20 MP still-image specification. The housing is reported rated to a pressure equivalent of 40 m; that rating applies to the housing, not the bare camera. Have Camera Will Travel |
| Brave 7 | 4K30 | No front screen; IPX8 water protection to 10 m (33 ft) without a housing, as reported by Have Camera Will Travel. | A more direct fit when body waterproofing matters more than framing yourself on a front display. Have Camera Will Travel |
| Brave 8 Lite | 4K60 | Front and rear screens. | TechRadar found stabilization struggled in shaky walking or cycling footage and low-light footage showed substantial noise. These are review findings, not a prediction for every scene. TechRadar |
| Brave 8 | 4K60 | Not stated in the cited comparison. | Have Camera Will Travel lists a 48 MP still-image specification. AKASO’s battery estimate is 130 minutes under the specific conditions below. Have Camera Will Travel |
| V50 X | Not stated in the cited comparison. | Not stated in the cited comparison. | AKASO provides a battery estimate, but the available information does not establish it as a better overall choice than the Brave models. |
The 4K30 and 4K60 entries are listed model modes, not proof that the cameras deliver the same image quality. In particular, frame rate alone does not establish stabilization or low-light performance.

What distinguishes the Brave 7 LE from the Brave 7?
Brave 7 LE: easier self-framing, housing required underwater
The LE’s front screen makes it convenient for checking a selfie-style shot or framing yourself while recording. Its body is IPX7 splash resistant, but AKASO’s supplied housing is required for underwater use. Do not treat the bare LE as a swimming or diving camera.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Brave 7: body waterproofing without a housing
Have Camera Will Travel reports the standard Brave 7 as IPX8 waterproof to 10 m (33 ft) without a housing. It gives up the LE’s front screen, so choose it when avoiding a housing underwater is more important than seeing your framing from the front.
Should you choose a 4K60 model?
The Brave 8 Lite and Brave 8 are listed with 4K60, compared with 4K30 for the Brave 7 and Brave 7 LE. That higher listed frame rate may be relevant if 60 fps is a priority, but it is not by itself a guarantee of better-looking footage.

For the Brave 8 Lite, TechRadar’s review specifically reported weak stabilization in shaky walking or cycling scenes and substantial noise in low light. If your usual footage involves movement or dim conditions, those findings are worth weighing before choosing it based on 4K60 alone. The available evidence does not establish equivalent review findings for the Brave 8.

| Model | AKASO estimate | Conditions attached to the estimate |
|---|---|---|
| Brave 7 LE | 120 minutes | 1080p/30fps, Wi-Fi off, room temperature |
| V50 X | 120 minutes | 1080p/30fps, Wi-Fi off, room temperature |
| Brave 8 | 130 minutes | 1080p/30fps, Wi-Fi off, room temperature |
These are manufacturer estimates under stated test conditions, not a promise of runtime in every recording setup. AKASO says higher resolution, Wi-Fi, app use, stabilization, and cold conditions can reduce runtime. Its guide notes: “Actual performance varies by settings and environment – higher resolutions drain batteries faster”. AKASO battery guide
How to choose based on your footage
- Choose the Brave 7 LE if a front screen is useful for self-framing and 4K30 is sufficient, and you are willing to use its housing underwater.
- Choose the Brave 7 if you want the reported 10 m body waterproofing without a housing and can do without a front screen.
- Consider the Brave 8 Lite if 4K60 and front-and-rear screens appeal to you, while taking the cited stabilization and low-light review findings into account.
- Consider the Brave 8 if you want its listed 4K60 mode and understand that the evidence here does not establish a direct independent performance comparison against the other models.
- Do not select the V50 X on battery duration alone. Its 120-minute manufacturer estimate shares the same constrained test conditions as the other figures, and the available information does not establish it as the better all-round camera.
Check price, stock, and accessory fit before buying
Prices and availability are time-sensitive and the available snapshots conflict. AKASO’s US store showed the Brave 7 LE at $149.99 and out of stock when accessed on October 7, 2026; an independent comparison revised October 5, 2026 listed it at $139.99 and in stock. Neither figure is dependable current price guidance. The same store snapshot listed the Brave 8 Lite at $199.99 and out of stock. Check the live seller listing for your region before purchase.
