Choose the right AirDroid download
AirDroid’s download center lists multiple products, not just AirDroid Personal. For the main cross-platform file-transfer and Android-management app, use Personal. If your goal is specifically screen casting, remote assistance, parental controls, or business device management, check that product’s listing instead.

Where to download or use AirDroid Personal
Use AirDroid’s official download pages to select your platform. The pages list desktop and mobile routes as well as access to the web client. Avoid third-party APK sites; the official pages are the direct route for AirDroid downloads.

- Android: follow the Android route on one of those official pages. If you specifically need an APK file, use an official route where available rather than an unofficial mirror.
- iPhone or iPad: use the iOS route listed on the official download pages.
- Web: open the Personal web client in a browser. AirDroid’s guide says it can manage Android devices through a browser without installing software on the computer or other device used to access the client.
AirDroid does not establish a complete, current operating-system compatibility matrix in the cited download and support information. Check the platform’s current listing before installing, especially on an older device.

What an AirDroid APK is
An APK is a digital Android application package: it is an installer file, not a separate physical edition of AirDroid. The web-client guide also describes downloading or installing APK files through the client. That does not mean you need an APK to use AirDroid on Windows, macOS, iOS, or the web; choose the route for the device where you want to run the app.
What you can do for free
AirDroid Support says a free account can transfer files, remotely control Android devices, share and mirror screens, and receive and reply to SMS on a computer. The user guide says free users can add up to two devices. Some capabilities are reserved for Premium.

These are AirDroid’s stated plan features; availability and terms may depend on the account and current product offering. The pricing page shows AirDroid Personal starting from $3.99, but the cited page does not establish one universal billing period or regional price. Treat it as a displayed starting price, not a guaranteed price for every location or plan.
Choose a connection mode that fits your use
AirDroid Personal’s guide describes local connections when the phone and computer use the same Wi-Fi, and remote connections when they are on different networks. Which mode is available or practical depends on the device and feature you are using.

The web-client guide says iOS connections are limited to LAN mode and have fewer features because of platform restrictions. For frequent remote access from an iOS device, AirDroid recommends its desktop client or AirMirror. This limitation applies to the web-client connection route; it is not a claim that every AirDroid product or iOS workflow has identical restrictions.

Install and get started
- Open the official AirDroid download center and select AirDroid Personal, then choose the route for your computer or phone. You can also start from the dedicated Personal download page.
- Install the app from the selected official platform route. For browser access, open the web client instead of installing a desktop app on the device acting as the controller.
- Sign in to your AirDroid account and add or connect the device you want to manage. The user guide describes both same-Wi-Fi local connections and connections across different networks.
- Select the feature you need, such as file transfer or Android remote control. If a feature is unavailable, check whether it requires Premium or whether your connection mode and device platform support it.
If a download or connection does not work
- The download page shows several apps: select Personal for file management and Android control; choose another listing only if you specifically need that product’s function.
- You want an Android installer file: APK is simply an Android package. Use AirDroid’s own download route rather than an unofficial mirror.
- Your phone and computer are on different networks: the guide distinguishes remote connections from local same-Wi-Fi connections. Check the mode supported by the feature and your account.
- You are connecting from iOS through the web client: the guide limits this route to LAN and a smaller feature set. Use the desktop client or AirMirror for frequent remote access, as AirDroid recommends.
- You cannot find a feature in the free account: consult AirDroid’s current feature and plan information; Support lists some options, including folder transfer and remote camera, as Premium features.
