How are the games different to play?
AION 2: classes, factions, and traversal
NC describes AION 2 as inheriting the original game’s setting and conflict between Elyos and Asmodians. Its 2025 announcement lists eight classes, Unreal Engine 5, manual combat, PvE content, and detailed character customization. That establishes a class-based framing in the official description; it does not, by itself, show how the classes compare in depth or balance.
The game’s exploration pitch emphasizes moving across the world on foot, flying, and swimming. Executive Producer Seungwook Baek described it as a place to “walk, fly, and swim across everything you see.” The official global teaser also lists four dungeons for groups of up to five players and describes companions that can become mounts and provide benefits such as auto-looting. Those details point to small-party PvE and companion utility, but do not establish that all dungeons or companions work the same way.

Throne and Liberty: weapon combinations and varied group activities
Throne and Liberty’s official gameplay page describes combat roles built by equipping and combining any two weapons, rather than selecting a fixed class in the way its overview characterizes AION 2. The page also highlights weapon mastery, housing, gathering and crafting, weather-sensitive content, and changes between day and night.
Its listed activities span solo dungeons, six-player co-op dungeons, boss raids, 24v24 battlegrounds, guild control of Boonstones and Riftstones, and Castle Sieges. The official launch announcement identifies PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S and describes in-game text and voice chat. Together, these systems make group and guild play a visible part of the offering, but they do not mean that every player must join a guild or choose PvP.

Which one is better for PvP?
Throne and Liberty has the stronger official evidence for players specifically seeking a range of PvP formats: its feature list names 24v24 battlegrounds, guild territory control, and Castle Sieges. Those are concrete team and guild activities to weigh if large-scale competition is your priority.
The official AION 2 details covered here establish factions, classes, exploration, and dungeons, but do not give comparable detail about its full PvP offering. That is not proof that AION 2 lacks PvP; it means these descriptions are insufficient to compare the games’ PvP depth or quality on equal terms.

Can you play solo?
Throne and Liberty explicitly lists solo dungeons, alongside its co-op, raid, battleground, and guild content. AION 2’s official teaser lists dungeons for up to five players; the available description does not establish how its wider solo progression compares. Because the listed global launch date is October 5, 2026, verify the live status, supported region, and access terms on AION 2’s official teaser site before trying to join. The Korea and Taiwan launch in 2025 does not establish availability in other regions.

Throne and Liberty’s announced Western operator transition
On August 12, 2026, the official Western service notice said Amazon Game Studios planned to transition live operations to FirstSpark Games/NC in Q4 2026. The published plan says accounts, characters, progression, inventory, existing Steam or console access, and cross-play would remain. It describes cross-progression between Steam and NC’s PURPLE platform, but not between other platforms.
That transition was still in the future relative to October 3, 2026. Check the official service news for any updated timing, platform-specific steps, or transfer instructions. The stated continuity plan is not a guarantee that details will remain unchanged.
