NC says AION 2 exceeded 400,000 peak concurrent users when its global service began on October 5, 2026. The company named both Steam and PURPLE as launch platforms but did not provide a platform-by-platform breakdown, so the figure cannot be described as a Steam-only player peak.
What the 400,000 figure means
NC’s October 6, 2026 announcement says AION 2 surpassed 400,000 peak concurrent users at the start of official global service. It identifies Steam and NC’s PURPLE launcher as distribution channels, but does not say how many users were on either platform. The claim therefore describes the launch across an unspecified platform scope—not a confirmed Steam concurrency record. NC’s announcement is the source for the peak-concurrency figure.

A separate October 5 notice from the AION 2 Team on Steam Community thanked players for helping the game reach “400,000 active users.” That notice uses a different metric from NC’s “peak concurrent users” wording and does not explain how the counts relate. The two figures should not be treated as interchangeable. The Steam Community feed carries the active-user wording.
When and where AION 2 launched
Global service began on October 5, 2026, local time. The official Steam launch notice scheduled the unlock for 6:00 AM PDT / 15:00 CEST that day. Players could access the PC game through Steam or PURPLE. The official Steam launch notice announced that AION 2 was live.

That date followed a five-day Early Access period that began September 30 for Founder’s Pack purchasers. NC said the game reached number one on Steam’s global Top Sellers chart and ranked first in 15 countries during Early Access. Those are publisher-reported results for that period, separate from the October 5 launch concurrency figure. NC’s Early Access announcement reports those chart rankings.
Launch charts and service footprint
NC also reported that, as of October 6, AION 2 was number one on Steam’s global Popular New Releases and Trending Free charts. This is a dated snapshot reported by the publisher, not evidence that the game still holds either position.

For global service, NC named servers in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia (Japan), and said the game supported eight languages. The cited announcement names English, Japanese, French, German, and Spanish; it does not identify the other three in that text.
What players should take away
- The launch milestone is publisher-reported: NC says peak concurrent users exceeded 400,000 at the beginning of global service.
- It is not verified as a Steam-only peak: NC names Steam and PURPLE but does not split the number by platform.
- “Active users” is a separate claim: the Steam Community thank-you notice uses that wording, without defining its relationship to concurrent users.
- Chart positions are time-sensitive: the Top Sellers result refers to Early Access, while the Popular New Releases and Trending Free rankings were reported as of October 6.
Limited-time in-game mounts
The official AION 2 site advertised two free in-game mounts for eligible players. Its stated deadlines were account creation by December 2, 2026 at 3:30 PM JST and claiming the rewards by December 9, 2026 at 3:30 PM JST. Check the official AION 2 site for current eligibility and offer details, since event terms can change.
