To get a pet in Aion 2, open the Pets menu, select the pet you want, and check its source panel for the monster and location that drop its souls. Most pets unlock at five souls; ordinary pets need 25 additional souls for level 2 and 75 more for level 3. Their owned stats are separate from the rerollable stats on their family’s Genus Insight board.
How many pets are in Aion 2?
Aion 2 Maps reported 207 pets in its October 2026 client-data guide: 200 monster pets and seven Special pets. The listed family counts are Cogni 41, Fera 65, Natura 48, Varian 46, and Special 7. These are community-guide figures, not an official NC roster announcement.

Another 2026 community source, Corpus, reported 206 total pets and 45 Varian pets. That difference may reflect data timing or a roster/version change. Check your live Pets collection screen for the current count rather than treating either guide total as definitive.

How many souls does it take to unlock and level a pet?
Ordinary pets use souls collected from their listed sources. The Global launch reference gives these thresholds:

The totals describe souls, not a guaranteed number of monster kills. Drop rates and game updates can change how long farming takes; check the pet’s current counter and tooltip in your client.
How to find a pet’s farming location
- Open Pets. Select an unowned pet or one whose next level you want to reach.
- Read its source panel. Use the listed monster, region, and any chest or shop source. A pet’s name may differ from the monster that drops its soul.
- Choose a practical camp. Favor a reachable group of targets you can defeat efficiently, accounting for your faction access, character progress, and the enemies’ levels.
- Confirm progress in the collection. Recheck the pet’s soul counter while farming; defeating an enemy does not by itself confirm that the pet counter advanced.
Guide-listed home-region camps
The Global guide lists Eternal Isle in Verteron as an Elyos option, with Eternal Kerubar and Eternal Kerubian. For Asmodians in Altgard, it lists camps in Tranein Highland, Immortal Isle, and Spirit Isle. These are examples from the guide, not a guarantee that every camp is accessible or optimal for every character.

For a more specific Verteron example, the guide’s Cogni listings identify level-49 Eternal Kerubar with 33 nearby spawns and level-49 Eternal Kerubian with 31 nearby spawns. Those levels and camp counts are database listings; compare them with your current game and choose targets that suit your character.
Sources beyond open-world monster drops
Not every soul is obtained by repeatedly farming an ordinary field monster. Aion 2 Maps also lists dungeon monsters, expedition mid-boss rewards, kill rewards, Pet Soul Chests, the battle pass, and Special pet offers. Its named expedition examples are Enhanced Harcon in Krao Cave; Black Smoke Murute and Red Spark Ignus in Fire Temple; and Predator Saraswati and Phantasmal Lakshmi in Draupnir. Check the current in-game reward table for the active reward, event period, and eligibility before planning around a limited-time or party reward.

What stats do pets give by Genus?
Ordinary pets in the same family share the reported owned-stat package at the same level. The following are level-3 owned effects from the cited community reference, not Genus Insight rolls:

How does Genus Insight work?
Genus Insight is a separate progression system: it has five boards, one for each family, and each board has its own rolled stat lines. A pet’s owned effects do not change into these rolls. The cited client-data guide describes progression from Insight 1 through 10, with nine lines opening across levels 1 through 9; level 10 improves the odds of higher grades.

Because locking raises later reroll costs, the cited guides recommend avoiding locks while a board is still gaining levels, when stronger grade odds become available later. That is a resource-management recommendation, not a requirement; keeping a valuable line may be worth the extra cost if it is more important to you than conserving materials.

The same guide identifies slot 4 as the damage-related line and says Smite appears only on Special’s slot 4. It also reports that pet leveling, as well as analysis, can contribute Insight. Treat these as client-data findings rather than permanent rules; inspect the board in your current version.
Should you unlock a new pet or level one you already own?
For collection growth, compare the five souls for a new ordinary-pet unlock with the souls needed for the next level of a pet you already have. Aion 2 Maps reports 100 Genus EXP per soul collected, but also reports that the final 75 souls for level 3 yield 250 EXP total. That source-reported figure makes the final level a less efficient board-progression target than collecting new pets if your only goal is EXP; confirm the current rewards in-game before spending time or materials on that basis.
Ordinary monster-pet leveling is reported to feed the four ordinary-family boards, while Special board progression is reported to depend on analysis. Your choice therefore depends on whether you prioritize a new collection entry, an owned-stat milestone, or progress on a particular board. The exact roster, source drops, costs, and stat pools in community guides can move with patches, so use the live Pets and Genus Insight panels for the final decision.
