Netflix and Prime Video have disclosed broad 2026 slates, while Ormax’s latest estimates point to growth in connected-TV viewing and paid subscriptions. To find what is actually new this week, check each service’s India catalogue and distinguish confirmed streaming dates from slate announcements and post-theatrical arrivals.
What new Indian OTT titles have been announced for 2026?
Both Netflix and Prime Video have announced substantial India-focused slates. The announcements show the range of projects and languages planned, but do not establish that every title has a release date or is now streaming.

Netflix’s announced India slate
In its 3 February 2026 announcement, Netflix described a slate spanning crime and thrillers, family drama, comedy, romantic comedies, unscripted formats and stories rooted in everyday life. The examples covered multiple languages: Tamil projects include the rom-com series #Love, the film Made in Korea and R. Madhavan’s series Legacy; Telugu projects include supernatural mystery film Takshakudu and Super Subbu, described as Netflix’s first Telugu series. These are announced titles, not confirmation of current availability.
The slate also named production partners from across the Indian industry, including Red Chillies Entertainment, T-Series, Bhansali Productions, Jio Studios, Yash Raj Films, Maddock, Dharma Productions, Junglee Pictures, Ajay Devgn Films, Luv Films, Balaji Telefilms and Colour Yellow Pictures, as well as South Indian partners.

Prime Video’s announced India slate
At Prime Video Presents 2026, the service announced close to 55 titles across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. New titles listed include The Revolutionaries, Matka King, Raakh, Lukkhe and Vansh – The Kalyug Warriors. The announcement also named returning series and formats: Farzi Season 2, Panchayat Season 5, Call Me Bae Season 2, Dahaad Season 2, Dupahiya Season 2 and The Traitors Season 2.
Regional projects in the same announcement include a Telugu adaptation of The Traitors, Guvvala Cheruvu Ghat, Tamil drama Exam, Vadhandhi Season 2 and Inspector Rishi Season 2. Treat these as announced unless a separate, dated announcement or the service’s India catalogue confirms a release.

What’s new on OTT this week in India?
A complete, platform-confirmed release calendar for 5–11 October 2026 is not established by the available dated announcements. Rather than treat an upcoming slate as a weekly watchlist, check the title’s India availability directly on the relevant service before relying on a release roundup.

- Confirm the status. Look for a dated platform announcement or the title in the service’s India catalogue. Record whether it is announced, scheduled for a stated date, or already streaming.
- Check the release route. For a film, establish whether it is a direct-to-OTT premiere or arrived after a theatrical run. A theatrical release does not by itself confirm when or where it will stream.
- Check the version you can watch. Verify the available language audio and subtitles on the title’s own listing; a slate announcement naming a language does not establish dubbing or subtitle options.
- Compare like with like. Note the service and India availability, confirmed date, format, language options and genre. For sports, distinguish a live event from an on-demand film or series.
Availability, plans and access arrangements can vary by service, bundle and catalogue. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting-hosted MPA/Deloitte report describes subscription, transactional video-on-demand alongside subscription, hybrid and telecom or aggregator bundle models; it is background on market structure, not a current price guide.

How big is India’s OTT audience—and what do the numbers count?
Ormax Media’s 2026 figures show that “OTT audience,” “paid subscriptions” and “connected-TV audience” are different measures. Its report is based on 15,000 respondents across India surveyed in June–July 2026 and published on 10 September 2026.

The distinction matters when interpreting growth claims: the broad audience includes free viewing, subscription totals can include bundled access, and viewing time spans formats beyond films and series.

Are Indian streaming originals increasing or shrinking?
Ormax’s supply-side analysis counted 274 India-produced streaming originals launched in 2025, excluding YouTube and international content. Its analysis reports that the number of originals fell 18% in 2024 from a 2023 peak, then fell a further 13% in 2025. Fiction series made up 71% of the 2025 originals counted.

The analysis excludes some platforms and 27 JioHotstar influencer properties released under its Sparks sub-brand; it also notes that low-key, unpromoted launches may have been missed. What is changing in platform strategy and viewing?
More language-crossing viewing
Prime Video India says close to two-thirds of its customers watched content in more than four languages. It also says that more than half of its most-watched Top 50 non-English titles in 2025 came from Prime Video India. These are platform-reported figures, not an independent measure of audience behaviour across all services.
Live sports remain a separate streaming draw
Reliance Industries’ FY 2025–26 media overview reports 72.5 million concurrent streams on JioHotstar during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final and more than 515 million viewers across television and digital during IPL 2026’s opening weekend. The first figure is a peak concurrent-streams measure; the second is cross-screen reach. Neither measures on-demand series viewership.
Access is not the same across services
The Indian market combines subscription services, transactional purchases alongside subscriptions, hybrid offers and access bundled through telecom operators or aggregators. The government-hosted MPA/Deloitte industry report records JioHotstar’s February 2025 launch following the merger of Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema into JioStar. This helps explain why catalogues and ways to access them differ; it does not establish current plan prices or restrictions.
