If AION 2’s pet transformation will not start, check the selected pet and its progression first: current third-party guides say it must be a regular pet at Insight level 3, equipped before you consume one Empathy Candy (Bound). Special pets are not eligible, and the reported transformation lasts five minutes. These steps are based on guides dated October 3, 2026, rather than official support documentation.
What “pet transform” means in AION 2
For this procedure, transformation means your character takes the form of the currently equipped pet. The AION 2 Database identifies Empathy Candy as the item for this pet transformation: AION 2 Database: Empathy Candy. Do not confuse it with other uses of “transform” in AION 2: NCSoft announced a separate feature in which a complete fromis_9 collaboration cosmetic set lets players take the form of individual members (NCSoft announcement, June 17, 2026). An earlier Gamescom-based discussion of transforming into monsters during combat was a different topic and did not establish instructions for the current pet feature (Gamescom pet guide).

Requirements to start a pet transformation
The current procedural details come from two third-party guides dated October 3, 2026. Destructoid reports the Insight threshold and five-minute duration; Power Up Gaming independently corroborates the core eligibility requirements. Neither is official game support documentation.
- Choose a regular pet. Both guides say special pets cannot be used for this transformation (Destructoid guide; Power Up Gaming guide).
- Raise that pet to Insight level 3. Destructoid specifies this threshold.
- Equip the pet you want to become. The item and guide describe the transformation as using the currently equipped pet.
- Consume one Empathy Candy (Bound). The guides describe consuming the candy to start the transformation; the item database identifies the item and its function.
Destructoid reports a five-minute transformation per candy. The reviewed sources do not establish a cooldown or further timing rules.

If it still does not work
- Verify the pet category: make sure it is regular, not special.
- Verify the selected pet’s Insight: the reported requirement is level 3. Check the pet you intend to use, rather than assuming another pet’s progression applies.
- Verify which pet is equipped: equip the eligible pet before using the item.
- Verify the item: look for Empathy Candy (Bound), then use it while the intended pet is equipped.
- Check what result to expect: the reported duration is five minutes, not a permanent change.
If those checks appear satisfied but the item still fails, inspect its live in-game tooltip and consult current patch notes or official support for your region. The reviewed sources do not document specific error messages or official error-by-error fixes, so they cannot confirm a further remedy.
How many pet souls does level 3 take?
The guides use different totals because they count from different starting points. Destructoid says 100 souls are needed after acquiring the pet: 25 for level 2 and 75 for level 3. Power Up Gaming counts five souls for the initial unlock as well, giving 105 total including that unlock. These are third-party figures, not independently verified official values (Destructoid; Power Up Gaming).

Power Up Gaming lists corresponding monster drops, reward chests, merchants, dungeon bosses, and events as possible soul sources. That list is not established as complete or available in every region. Check the selected pet’s in-game Source tab for current acquisition information instead of relying on a single farming route.
