In AION 2, press V to start or end flight; movement in the air uses the same directional controls as movement on the ground. Use Shift to accelerate powered flight. Glide is a separate, slower descent: Space starts or ends it, holding W builds speed while held, and Shift briefly boosts glide speed. Both modes use the flight gauge, so check your bindings and gauge before relying on a long trip.

The official guide is for the Taiwan version and may not describe every detail of a later global client. Check the live Key Settings menu if a listed key does not match your version or custom bindings.

How flight, glide, and the gauge work
Powered flight
Flight uses your ground movement inputs, with Shift adding acceleration. The official guide says flight consumes the flight gauge; if it runs out while you are airborne, your character falls.

Glide
Gliding is a slower, descending movement mode rather than sustained powered flight. Hold W for a speed increase that lasts only while the key is held, or use Shift for a temporary glide boost. Glide also consumes the flight gauge.

Switching between the modes
Flight and glide share a cooldown, but the official guide says you can transition between them immediately. That does not remove the gauge limit: monitor the gauge while airborne, because running out causes a fall.
Check the vertical-flight bindings in your client
An English-language third-party settings guide reports Ctrl+R for Fly Up and Ctrl+F for Fly Down, and suggests rebinding them to more comfortable keys. Treat those as reported defaults, not guaranteed current bindings: open your client’s Key Settings and confirm the action names and assigned keys there.

When choosing replacements, favor keys you can reach while steering and that do not overlap with actions you use often in combat. A reachable side mouse button is one possible Fly Up binding, not a requirement. If you use the mouse for aiming, test whether the new keys remain comfortable during both flight and combat.

Resolve jump, glide, and defensive-action conflicts
Space may be assigned to more than one action—reported examples include jump, glide, and Defiance. If pressing it triggers an unexpected action, inspect the bindings for each of those commands and separate the ones you need to use independently. A third-party settings guide recommends assigning Defiance its own key, but the best layout depends on your current bindings and play style.

- Open the client’s Key Settings.
- Find the bindings for flight, Fly Up, Fly Down, glide, jump, and any defensive action sharing a key.
- Change only the conflicting assignment, choosing a key you can reach without interrupting steering.
- Test the revised setup in a safe area before relying on it during combat or travel.
Choose the camera mode that suits you
AION 2 and AION 1 control modes change camera and aiming behavior. The third-party settings guide describes the modes this way:

Neither mode is universally best. Try both with your usual target-selection and interface tasks, then keep the one that feels more natural for both flight and combat.

Why flight may stop or feel unreliable
- The flight gauge is depleted: the official guide says running out while airborne causes a fall.
- A key does something unexpected: check for overlapping assignments, especially around Space, jump, glide, and defensive actions.
- A listed shortcut does not work: confirm it in Key Settings; the Ctrl+R and Ctrl+F assignments come from a third-party guide and may not match your build or customized layout.
- The camera or aim feels wrong: compare AION 2 and AION 1 modes and choose based on your own comfort with mouse-following aim, free-cursor targeting, and interface access.
