Choose your first AION 2 class by the job you want to do in combat—not by a supposed universal tier list. The official class descriptions point to clear differences in party responsibility, range, and combat style, while updates can change skills and balance. For your early character, follow the current client’s quests and item guidance, and treat exact build advice as region- and patch-specific.
How to choose a class
Start with four questions: what responsibility do you want in a group, how close do you want to fight, do you prefer physical attacks or magic, and how much utility do you want to manage? These are practical ways to compare the official role descriptions, not official stats or a ranking.

The first eight descriptions come from NCSOFT’s June 4, 2025 overview; they describe the initial roster, not the full current roster. NCSOFT added Brawler in its July 6, 2026 update. The Brawler builds Rage through basic attacks and active skills; reaching a threshold activates Rampage. Read the Brawler update announcement for that class’s announced mechanics.

Match the role to the responsibility you want
- Choose Templar if you want the explicitly defined tanking role.
- Consider Cleric for healing, or Chanter if group support and multiplayer utility appeal to you.
- For damage, compare the kind of offense you want: wide-area attacks, precise melee, long-range attacks, or burst magic.
- Consider Spiritmaster if solo play is a priority, while remembering that the official description is broad rather than a guarantee about every activity.
Think about feel, not just labels
Range and combat style are useful comparison points, but the cited overview does not give a full mechanical breakdown of every class. Try to identify whether you enjoy being in the thick of a fight or acting from farther away, and whether you want to focus on damage, survival, healing, or utility. For Brawler, the official update gives a more specific clue: front-line attacks and combos that build toward Rampage.

What to prioritize after character creation
NCSOFT says character creation lets players adjust over 200 features. That is an appearance-customization claim; the announcement does not say appearance choices determine combat power.
For progression, a beginner guide for the Korea service reviewed August 19, 2026 recommends using Episode quests for direction while also completing nearby Region content instead of rushing past every side system. Its advice is useful as a general approach, but quest rewards, dungeon requirements, and progression details can differ by client region and patch. Check the information shown in your own client.

- Use quests to orient yourself. Follow Episode quests for direction and consider nearby Region content as you go, rather than treating every side activity as something to skip.
- Learn your character before chasing a rotation. The Korea-service guide recommends practicing movement, camera control, defensive timing, and class-specific ways to deal damage safely. Build familiarity first; an exact rotation is not established here.
- Check dungeon details in the client. Review current entry conditions and rewards before committing to a run. Do not assume Korea-service requirements apply to another region.
- Read item tooltips and manage inventory. Understand what equipment and materials do before using or discarding them.
- Treat enhancement materials as a budget. The guide recommends care with limited materials, but does not support a universal stopping point or spending threshold. Patch and character circumstances matter.
Why build advice needs a region, patch, and activity
Class roles are a starting point, not a permanent verdict on which class is strongest. On March 25, 2026, NCSOFT announced class balance adjustments, new Stigma skills for each class, an increase to a maximum of five Stigma slots, and separate PvP and PvE damage calculations. Those changes alone show why a build recommendation needs context.

The update named Fracturing Rush for Gladiator, Battlefield Banner for Templar, Barrier Spell for Chanter, Reincarnating Touch for Cleric, Command: Proxy for Spiritmaster, Hibernation for Sorcerer, Shadowstep for Assassin, and Supporting Fire for the class called “Ranger” in that release. Class naming or skill details can vary by release context, so check the current regional client rather than assuming every announcement maps directly to the global launch version. See NCSOFT’s March 25, 2026 class update.
The official global site lists October 5, 2026 as the launch date. As of October 4, 2026, that date is one day away, so the available information does not establish a definitive best class or build for the global launch client. Any specific recommendation should name its region, patch, and whether it is for PvE or PvP.
