A reusable AI image prompt keeps the instructions that should stay constant in a fixed body and marks the details that should change as named inputs. This makes it easier to produce a related series—such as a phone, camera and coffee machine infographic—without rewriting the whole prompt. It is a workflow for reuse, not a guarantee of consistent or better images.
What the scan of 1,446 prompts found
In an October 2026 scan reported by Ethan Brooks of Prompt House, 323 of 1,446 prompts—about 22%—contained at least one square-bracket placeholder, and 299—about 21%—were written as JSON. The reported median prompt length was about 1,000 characters. These are the author’s observations from that scan, not independently audited statistics. Read the article by Ethan Brooks.

The underlying nanobanana-trending-prompts collection is described as more than 1,400 trending prompts from X, ranked by engagement. It is therefore a selected collection, not a random sample of image-prompting practice. Its proportions do not establish how often people generally use placeholders or JSON.
How to make a reusable image prompt
Think of the prompt as a function: keep its stable instructions together, then expose only the inputs that need to vary. For example, a technical-infographic template might specify perspective, annotation style, layout and visual treatment while leaving the subject as [OBJECT]. Replacing that one value can adapt the prompt to a phone, camera or coffee machine while leaving the rest of the instructions intact.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
One prompt reproduced in Brooks’s article begins: “Create a technical infographic of [OBJECT] with a 45-degree isometric 3D perspective…” The example shows how a placeholder can be used; it is not evidence that the resulting images will be identical or objectively better.
- Start with a real use case. Write and refine a prompt for the image you actually need rather than templating an abstract idea.
- Separate stable instructions from changing inputs. Decide which details—such as subject, product name or color—will differ across uses.
- Name each variable clearly. Use recognizable placeholders such as
[PRODUCT]or[COLOR]so it is obvious what to replace. - Keep the rest fixed when continuity matters. Preserve style, composition and other stable directions for a series, then substitute the variable values manually or in code.
This method makes the prompt easier to reuse and edit. The cited article reports no controlled test showing that templates improve image quality or guarantee consistency.

Should you use plain text or JSON?
Choose the format for the person or software that will edit the prompt, not because one format is known to make images better. A readable paragraph is usually the simplest option for manual reuse. Structured fields can be more convenient when software needs to populate separate properties or change one part without rewriting the others.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches| Format | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Plain-text template | People editing a prompt by hand or making a few variants | Easy to read, but changing a value in a large prompt may require careful editing |
| Structured fields or JSON | A workflow that programmatically fills or adjusts independent prompt parts | Supports clearer field-by-field substitution, but adds structure that may be unnecessary for manual use |
Braces and field names are not magic: the image model still receives text. The scan found JSON-shaped prompts in 299 of 1,446 entries, but that observation does not show that JSON is universally preferable or produces stronger results.

What the figures can—and cannot—tell you
The reported figures describe one October 2026 scan of a curated, engagement-ranked collection. They show that placeholders and JSON both appeared in that collection, and that its median prompt was reported to be about 1,000 characters. They do not establish how common these practices are across all image prompts, whether longer prompts work better, or whether a particular format improves output.
Brooks’s article says the dataset was published by MeiGen.ai under CC BY 4.0 and that prompts belong to the creators who shared them. The project page identifies the collection and links a license file, but the license text was not available in the retrieved repository content. A dataset-level license statement should not be taken to settle rights in every underlying prompt or image; check the applicable license and provenance before reusing material from the collection. When prompt-discovery tools fit
A prompt gallery or search tool can help you find examples to adapt, while an image-generation workflow is a separate step. The MeiGen AI Design MCP documentation describes a bundled 1,446-prompt collection, gallery search, prompt enhancement and image generation through multiple possible backends. Provider and account requirements can vary, and the documentation does not demonstrate that a template structure improves generated images. Reusable prompts themselves do not require a paid generation service. See the MeiGen AI Design MCP documentation.
