Compare tools by their editing workflow, privacy settings, and terms, then verify any design independently before treating it as heraldically correct or using it commercially.
Why this is not a ranked top 10
A useful top-10 list needs consistent selection criteria and evidence for each entry. The available official documentation supports a comparison of four services, but not six additional candidates or a trustworthy rank order. There are also no controlled image-generation tests here. Treat the services below as options to investigate, not winners in a performance contest.

In specialist heraldic usage, “family crest,” “coat of arms,” and “blazon” are not interchangeable terms. Because the sources available for this comparison do not establish authoritative definitions, this article uses the familiar search terms in their everyday sense rather than offering a technical heraldic guide. A generated graphic should be treated as visual ideation, not proof of a family’s historical arms.
Four services to compare for crest concepts
| Service | Documented workflow or terms | What to check for a crest project |
|---|---|---|
| Adobe Firefly | Adobe describes Firefly as a standalone web application and a family of models and tools used in Adobe apps. Its FAQ covers prompt-led image creation and refining or remixing outputs. | Consider the app-integration and editing workflow. Adobe says its models are trained on licensed content, including Adobe Stock, and public-domain content where copyright has expired; it says it does not train on customer content and does not claim ownership of users’ Firefly content. These are Adobe’s stated policies, not a guarantee that every output is free of rights concerns. |
| Canva AI Products | Canva’s AI Product Terms address generated outputs and the effect of licensed Canva library content on ownership. | Review the result for accuracy and appropriateness. If an output incorporates or modifies Canva library content, ownership remains subject to the relevant content license; Canva’s terms give the example of an individual library image used in an AI output, which the user does not thereby own. |
| Midjourney | Midjourney’s Terms of Service describe asset ownership subject to applicable law, third-party rights, and plan conditions. Its commercial-use guidance sets an exception for companies above a stated annual-revenue threshold. | Check the current plan rules, the rights attached to any third-party material, and whether your workflow makes images publicly visible. The terms provide assets without a non-infringement warranty and make users responsible for content they provide or generate. |
| Leonardo.Ai | A Leonardo.Ai Help Center article published August 25, 2026 discusses commercial use and distinguishes public generations from private generations under a paid subscription. | Check the current terms and privacy mode. The article says public images can be visible to other users and gives Leonardo.Ai broad rights to publicly generated images. |
These are documented workflow and policy differences, not evidence that one service makes better-looking or more accurate heraldic art. No reviewed source demonstrates that any of them reliably understands a blazon.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How to use a generator for visual exploration
- Decide what you want to explore. Write down visual choices such as colors, motifs, shape, and style. If you use heraldic terms or a blazon, do not assume the model will interpret them correctly.
- Generate several concepts, not a final authority. Adobe notes that prompt wording guides the behavior and relevance of its system; that is Adobe’s description of its product, not independent proof of quality. Review each image against your own brief.
- Refine the selected direction. Adobe documents a workflow for refining or remixing outputs. For any service, check its current editing options and whether you can export or revise the result in the format you need.
- Check privacy before generating or sharing. Read the service’s current settings and terms to understand whether an image is private, public, or visible to other users. Leonardo.Ai’s cited article specifically distinguishes public generations from private generations available to paid users.
- Review rights before publishing, selling, or commissioning further work. Check the service’s live terms, any plan conditions, and third-party rights in source material or incorporated library assets. Keep a record of the terms that apply when you create and use the image.
Commercial use and ownership are separate questions
A service’s statement about user ownership or commercial use does not establish that an image is exclusive, non-infringing, or historically valid. Rights can depend on applicable law, the service’s current terms, the chosen plan, third-party material, and how the image was made.
- Adobe Firefly: Adobe says it does not claim ownership of users’ Firefly content. Its guidelines prohibit using generative AI features to create, upload, or share material that violates third-party rights. Those statements do not clear every individual output for use.
- Canva: Canva says users are responsible for evaluating AI output accuracy and appropriateness. Content from its library remains subject to the applicable license even if an AI output incorporates or modifies it.
- Midjourney: Its Terms of Service say users own assets they create to the fullest extent possible under applicable law, subject to exceptions and conditions involving third-party rights and certain companies. Midjourney’s commercial-use guidance says companies grossing more than US$1 million annually need a Pro or Mega plan to use images commercially for the company. It also says an upscaled image created by another user remains that user’s. The threshold and plan condition are Midjourney’s stated rule, not a general legal standard.
- Leonardo.Ai: Its Help Center article dated August 25, 2026 says users can use generations commercially subject to its terms, and distinguishes private paid-user generations from public generations. Recheck its current terms before relying on that explanation.
Before using a design commercially, read the relevant live terms and assess third-party rights in any prompts, reference images, or included assets. If historical accuracy matters, seek confirmation from a suitable heraldic authority or specialist; a generator’s output is not that confirmation.

What a generator cannot establish
A convincing-looking image does not show that a family historically bore those arms, that the image follows heraldic conventions, or that its symbols have the meaning a prompt intended. The available product documentation establishes workflows and terms, not heraldic accuracy. Use a generator to explore a personal visual direction, then verify historical or technical claims separately.
