No service is a defensible universal cheapest-per-image winner. Midjourney meters Fast GPU time and offers unlimited Relax generations on some plans; ChatGPT bundles image creation into plans without publishing a stable image quota on its pricing page; Adobe Firefly includes unlimited standard image and vector generations in paid plans while charging credits for premium features. The best-value option depends on your country, image volume, speed needs, feature mix, privacy expectations and commercial-use requirements.
How the three services charge for image generation
| Service | What you pay for | What the official pages establish |
|---|---|---|
| Midjourney | Subscription tiers with monthly Fast GPU time; Relax Mode is available on higher plans. | Basic, Standard, Pro and Mega list 3.3, 15, 30 and 60 hours of monthly Fast GPU time respectively. Standard and above include unlimited image generations in Relax Mode. Midjourney plan comparison |
| DALL·E through ChatGPT | Image creation bundled into ChatGPT plans rather than a separately priced consumer DALL·E plan. | ChatGPT describes image access by plan, but the pricing page does not state an exact image-generation quota or per-image price. ChatGPT pricing |
| Adobe Firefly | Paid plans include unlimited standard image and vector generations; premium features use monthly generative credits. | Credits reset each billing cycle and do not roll over. The regional prices and credit allotments available in Brazil are listed below. Adobe Firefly plans |
These are different units of value, not comparable per-image rates. The official plan pages do not provide a common cost-per-image calculation across the three services.

How much does Midjourney cost?
Midjourney’s official plan comparison, accessed in 2026, lists the following prices. Annual billing is paid upfront and the page describes it as a 20% discount. Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled; plan features and prices can change. Midjourney plan comparison
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Monthly Fast GPU time | Relax image generations | Stealth Mode |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $10/month | $96/year, paid upfront | 3.3 hours (200 minutes) | Not included | Not included |
| Standard | $30/month | $288/year, paid upfront | 15 hours | Unlimited | Not included |
| Pro | $60/month | $576/year, paid upfront | 30 hours | Unlimited | Included |
| Mega | $120/month | $1,152/year, paid upfront | 60 hours | Unlimited | Included |
The plan page lists extra GPU time at $4 per hour. That may matter if your Fast time runs out, but it does not turn the plans into a predictable cost per finished image: the page does not specify a universal number of images per GPU hour.
#1 Best Overall
When Midjourney’s plan structure may suit you
- Basic has the lowest listed monthly price, but no Relax image generations.
- Standard is the first tier with unlimited Relax image generations, which can suit high-volume users willing to use that mode.
- Pro and Mega add more Fast GPU time; Stealth Mode is available only on those two tiers.
Is DALL·E included in ChatGPT, and how many images do you get?
Image creation is included as a ChatGPT plan feature, not offered as a separately priced consumer DALL·E product on the pricing page checked. The page describes image creation as limited on Free, “more image creation” on Go, “more complex and accurate image creation” on Plus, and “unlimited and faster image creation” on Pro, subject to usage limits and guardrails. ChatGPT pricing
The page does not give a fixed image quota for Plus or any other plan, nor a separate per-image cost. Exact prices and access limits can vary by market and offering, so check the localized ChatGPT pricing or account page before subscribing. Do not treat “unlimited” marketing language as an unrestricted guarantee: the page explicitly qualifies access with usage limits and guardrails.
Does Adobe Firefly have unlimited image generation?
Adobe says all paid plans include unlimited standard image and vector generations. Premium features—including video, audio and partner-model outputs—use monthly credits instead. Credits reset each billing cycle and do not roll over. Adobe Firefly plans

Rank #3
| Plan | Brazil page price per month | Monthly credits | Standard image and vector generations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | R$47 | 2,000 | Unlimited |
| Pro | R$95 | 4,000 | Unlimited |
| Pro Plus | R$235 regular price | 10,000 | Unlimited |
| Premium | R$950 regular price | 50,000 | Unlimited |
Standard generations and credit-consuming features should not be combined into one supposed cost-per-image: the plan page does not state how many finished premium outputs a given credit balance will produce across all feature types.
Which option is cheapest for your use?
Start with your local price and the work you actually plan to do. A low subscription price can be poor value if you need premium features, faster generation, greater privacy or business-use terms that call for a higher tier.
Rank #4
- Mostly standard still images, high volume: Firefly’s paid plans include unlimited standard image and vector generations, but check the local plan price and whether your workflow needs any credit-metered premium features.
- High-volume image generation with queue flexibility: Midjourney Standard or above provides unlimited Relax image generations. Consider whether waiting in Relax Mode works for your deadlines.
- Occasional image creation alongside ChatGPT use: Compare the ChatGPT plan you would otherwise choose with the image-access level it includes. The pricing page does not publish a stable quota for turning that plan price into a per-image cost.
- Frequent premium video, audio or partner-model work in Firefly: Estimate credit use for those specific features before choosing a plan; unlimited standard generations do not cover them.
- Need for faster access: Midjourney’s published comparison specifies Fast GPU hours by tier, while ChatGPT describes Pro as faster. Compare your actual regional plan details rather than assuming those descriptions represent equivalent speeds.
Rights, privacy and business use affect the real cost
Midjourney ownership and visibility
Midjourney says users own images and videos they create, subject to exceptions. Its terms require a company—or an employee of a company—with more than $1 million USD in annual revenue to subscribe to Pro or Mega to own its assets. Upscaled images created by another user remain that creator’s property. Midjourney Terms of Service

Adobe’s commercial-use statement
Adobe says its Firefly models are trained on licensed and public-domain content, and states: “Outputs from Adobe Firefly AI models are safe for commercial use.” This is Adobe’s statement about its own Firefly models, not an independent legal guarantee. Adobe distinguishes partner-model outputs and says users are responsible for assessing whether those outputs are suitable for their projects. Adobe Firefly plans
Quick Recap
A practical comparison before you subscribe
- Check your local price and billing term. Confirm the plan price and currency in your country; compare monthly billing with annual billing only if you are comfortable paying upfront.
- Estimate your usage by type. Separate standard images from premium outputs, and consider whether you need predictable Fast time, flexible Relax queues or bundled ChatGPT access.
- Check the constraints that change value. Review queue or speed expectations, exact usage limits, privacy settings, ownership terms and commercial-use requirements for your situation.
- Recheck the official plan page before purchase. These prices, entitlements and caps can change, and the pages do not establish one fixed global price per finished image.
