AI-Generated HTML, Ready to Share: Edit the Page and Create a Link

Turn an AI-generated HTML artifact into a page you can inspect, edit, and share—while checking what gets uploaded and who can open the link.

To share an AI-generated HTML page, first make sure it is a complete document with its images and other assets available. Then preview the rendered page, correct visible text in a visual editor if needed, and publish a link with access and expiration settings that fit your audience. Editing, previewing, and publishing can handle your file differently, so check what each step uploads before sharing.

Start with a page the browser can render

If an AI tool gave you only a fragment—such as a section of markup rather than a full page—place it in a complete HTML document before uploading it. Make sure referenced images, stylesheets, and other assets are available to the page. Paths that point to files only on your own computer will not work for someone opening a hosted copy.

For a ZIP upload, HTMLShare recommends including the supporting files and placing index.html at the ZIP’s root. That advice applies to the service’s documented upload workflow; check another provider’s requirements if you use a different one. HTMLShare

Preview the rendered page before editing

A preview shows what a reader will see, which can reveal problems that are easy to miss in raw HTML: awkward line breaks, clipped content, or a layout that changes on a narrow screen. Inspect the viewport your recipient is likely to use, then check the page again after making a change.

MeTool describes a browser-based editor and preview with desktop, tablet, and mobile viewports. CanvasLink documents desktop and tablet previews. These are provider-described features, not a guarantee that every HTML workspace offers the same controls. MeTool’s HTML workbench and CanvasLink

Fix copy directly, without regenerating the whole page

For a typo or small wording change, a click-to-edit interface can be more direct than sending the entire artifact back to an AI tool. MeTool says its visual editor supports editing text and other page elements, including fonts, colors, and images, as well as undo and redo. Those are the service’s own feature descriptions; they have not been independently tested here. MeTool’s HTML workbench

After changing copy, inspect the surrounding layout. A shorter or longer phrase can alter wrapping, spacing, or the position of nearby elements. Also test any interactive behavior the page needs, rather than assuming a visual preview proves that every control works.

Editing, previewing, and sharing may have different privacy behavior

Do not assume that keeping a file in a local editor means its published version also stays on your device. MeTool says editing and preview run in the browser, while optional sharing of larger files may use third-party temporary storage with consent. That is the provider’s description of its data flow, not an independent security audit. Check the service’s current explanation and consent prompt before creating a link. MeTool’s HTML workbench

Before publishing anywhere, remove private material from the page source as well as from what is visible: static HTML can expose content that is not displayed on screen. Do not upload passwords, API keys, backend credentials, or other secrets in a preview file.

Choose a sharing option by account, access, and lifetime

“Create a link” can mean different things: a publicly accessible page, a page restricted by an account or workspace, a password-protected page, or a temporary link that expires. The providers below describe different models; they are examples, not an exhaustive or independently tested comparison. Confirm the current settings before sharing.

Service What its documentation says Account or access details Lifetime or stated limits
paste.page Publish a pasted HTML page as a live website. The service describes this one-page flow as requiring no account. A page lifetime is not stated in the cited description.
CanvasLink Free preview; publishing requires an account. Password protection is described as a Pro feature. Pages on free or Pro accounts remain live while the account is kept. The service states a 10 MB HTML upload limit and up to 10 pages for free accounts.
Share HTML Documents publishing through a browser editor, REST API, and MCP. An optional password is available; pages are described as non-discoverable by default. Documented TTL choices are 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or never; its documentation states an HTML body limit of 13 MB.
ChatGPT Sites Audience settings control who can access a published site. Available settings depend on account and workspace. In Enterprise workspaces, public publishing is off by default and an administrator must enable it.

The upload limits and plan details in the table are provider-stated specifications, not general limits for HTML hosting. They may change. A link that is not discoverable by default is not necessarily private if anyone with the URL can open it; verify the actual audience control rather than relying on the label alone.

Use a preview link for review, not as a substitute for a real website

A static share link can suit a design review, QA check, approval, or client checkpoint. It is not automatically the right home for a site that needs ongoing public visibility, operational controls, or server-side features.

HTMLShare recommends production hosting when a project needs search visibility, a branded domain, access controls, analytics, server-side code, a database, payment flows, or business-critical uptime. Those needs call for infrastructure beyond a simple static preview link. HTMLShare

For a quick review, publish only what the recipient needs, check the access setting, and confirm how long the URL will work. For a public service or a page that handles real users or transactions, choose hosting designed for that job and keep secrets and backend credentials out of the HTML you upload.
