Agentix Lite Sentinel is a small Linux host-security prototype that watches selected activity and responds using rules and compact state. The v0.2.2 design, as described in a September 2026 secondary summary, centres on one problem: a defensive agent must not consume so much memory, CPU, or bookkeeping capacity, or accept so much attacker-controlled input, that it becomes the weak point exactly when it is needed. The reported answer is controlled degradation. Queues and state are bounded, firewall actions are rate-limited, and telemetry may be dropped rather than allowed to slow the application it protects.
That is a sound direction for a host agent. It is not the same as a secure system. The v0.2.2 details below are reported claims about the design, not verified code behaviour, and the numerical results in this article come from a later version, v0.6, measured by its author in controlled or synthetic conditions.

What is confirmed about v0.2.2, and what is not
Three sources are relevant. A SysDesAi secondary summary dated September 27, 2026 describes the v0.2.2 changes. A DEV Community article by jackymenCZ, dated September 28, 2026, describes the later v0.6 design, its tests, and its stated limits. An iTechGuides Team article dated October 4, 2026 places the author’s v0.6 tests and deployment settings in context.
The original v0.2.2 repository and source code were not available for this article, and no independent test results for that version were found. Everything in the v0.2.2 section should therefore be read as the design as reported, not as behaviour observed by us or by an outside tester.

The central tension: a defender has a resource budget too
A host agent runs on the same machine as the services it protects. It consumes CPU and memory, holds file descriptors, writes to disk, and reads input that anyone on the network can influence. Under a flood, event volume climbs at the same moment the agent must keep working. Three failure modes follow if nothing limits it:
- An unbounded queue turns a burst of events into memory exhaustion.
- State keyed on attacker-chosen values, such as source addresses, paths, or timestamps, lets an attacker inflate the agent’s own bookkeeping.
- Blocking telemetry lets the monitor slow the application it is supposed to watch.
The v0.2.2 design addresses each of these by choosing to lose some information in a controlled way. The question for a reader is which information is lost, and how an operator would notice.
The design choices reported for v0.2.2
The following choices are attributed to the SysDesAi summary of v0.2.2. The third column is an analytical reading of what each choice implies, not a separately measured result.
Rank #2
| Reported design choice | What it bounds | Trade-off when the limit is reached |
|---|---|---|
| Unix datagram reading separated from processing by a bounded queue | Memory held between socket reads and event processing | Events beyond the queue bound are not processed. The summary says telemetry may be dropped. |
| Fixed-size hash sketches and fixed-window counters instead of retaining raw attacker-controlled paths or timestamps | Memory per tracked item, and the amount of attacker-supplied data kept | Counts become approximate, and distinct identities can be merged when they map to the same sketch slot. |
| Actor-count and database-size limits, with pruning of older, non-banned actors | Growth of stored state on disk and in memory | An older actor that is not banned can be forgotten, and if it returns it is tracked as new. |
Rate-limited nft actions |
Rate of firewall rule changes | Requests above the rate are shed, so a block may be delayed or never applied. |
Explicit trusted proxy networks required before X-Forwarded-For is honoured |
Trust in client addresses supplied by a proxy header | If trust is misconfigured, a spoofed header can name the client, or the real client address is hidden behind the proxy. |
| Non-blocking telemetry that may drop events | Latency added to the protected application | The monitoring record has gaps during pressure. |
What an operator loses when a limit is reached
Bounded design changes what failure looks like. Rather than the host slowing down or running out of memory, the agent keeps running but its picture of the host becomes incomplete. The loss takes four forms:
- Gaps in the event record. Dropped telemetry cannot be reconstructed later, so an incident review may have holes exactly where the attack was heaviest.
- Forgotten actors. Pruning protects the database, but it removes history. Whether an address is a repeat offender depends on what survived pruning.
- Late or missing firewall actions. Shedding protects
nftfrom rule churn, but a block that was requested and shed is a block the host does not have. - Blurred identities. Sketches and counters trade precision for fixed memory. Two different actors can look like one.
None of this makes the design wrong. It does mean that “the agent stayed up” and “the agent saw everything” are separate claims, and only the first is what bounded design is built to deliver.
Later v0.6 measurements: a different version, reported by the author
The author’s v0.6 article reports several controlled or synthetic observations. They describe v0.6, not v0.2.2, and they should not be read as evidence that v0.2.2 passed the same tests. The table keeps the workload and qualification with each figure.

|---|---|---|
| Firewall requests submitted | 50,000 submitted; queue reported at 512; excess requests shed | Synthetic test in a controlled environment |
| IPv6 churn | 10,000 events; 512 ghosts retained | Synthetic test in a controlled environment |

| Transport datagrams | 10,000 datagrams; transport queue maximum reported at 64 | Synthetic test in a controlled environment |
| SQLite writes | 5,000 writes; WAL reported at 0 bytes at the end | Synthetic hard-guard scenario |
| Event throughput | About 4,284 events per second (pattern workload); about 9,622 events per second (health workload) | Environment-dependent author reports, not general capacity figures |
| Memory in an earlier benchmark | About 135 MiB process RSS; about 10–13 MiB Python heap | Depends on workload and environment |
The last row needs a note. Python heap is the memory the interpreter has allocated for Python objects. Process RSS, or resident set size, is the total physical memory the operating system attributes to the whole process, including the interpreter itself, loaded libraries, and allocator overhead. A process with 10–13 MiB of Python heap can therefore show about 135 MiB RSS without contradiction. Readers comparing memory figures should check which measurement a given number represents.
Deployment settings reported for v0.6.1
The later article describes these systemd resource limits for v0.6.1: MemoryHigh=160M, MemoryMax=180M, CPUQuota=50%, TasksMax=32, and LimitNOFILE=4096. These are the author’s reported settings for that version. They are not requirements for v0.2.2, and they should not be copied to another host without checking the workload they were chosen for.
What the author says is not established
The author states that v0.6 is not presented as a DDoS mitigation service, a commercial web application firewall, a carrier-grade firewall, an AI security operations centre, a real-world-proven intrusion-prevention system, or a replacement for professional infrastructure security. The article also says its controlled tests do not establish behaviour after sustained operation on a public VPS, or survival under arbitrary hostile traffic.

The article opens with the question that frames its approach: “What happens when somebody tries to break the thing that is supposed to protect the thing?” It answers its own question cautiously: “The answer is not ‘yes, absolutely, forever.'” That is the author’s qualification of what the tests show, and it is not an independent verdict.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. The proposed next step: a shadow-mode trial
The author proposes roughly seven days on a Linux VPS with Shadow Mode enabled and enforcement disabled. In that mode the agent would observe and record but not block. The proposed measurements are:
- tracked actors and ghost identities
- database and WAL size, and checkpoint progress
- storage pressure
- firewall requests shed, and firewall actions taken
- transport drops
- process RSS, CPU use, and restarts
- comparison against Nginx, Caddy, or application logs for the same period
This is a proposal in the sources. They do not establish that the trial has been run, so no trial results are reported here.

How to judge a defensive agent’s limits
No substantiated competing product was found to rank against Agentix Lite in the sources reviewed, and no head-to-head measurement exists. Readers can still compare defensive agents on four design axes:
- Bounded or unbounded state. Does memory grow with attacker-controlled input, and is there a stated ceiling?
- Blocking or dropped telemetry. If the monitor falls behind, does the protected application wait?
- Complete retention or controlled shedding. When pressure arrives, which events are lost, and is the loss recorded?
- Synthetic local testing or public observation. Was the behaviour measured under a generator the author controlled, or on a host exposed to real traffic over time?
Agentix Lite’s v0.2.2 design is specified on the first and second axes. Its published numbers come mainly from the fourth axis, in a later version.
