Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf you need an extension with verified live status among these three, .ai is the only one established by the official sources reviewed: it is Anguilla’s country-code top-level domain (ccTLD). The available evidence does not establish that .agent or .agi are delegated and open for public registration. Check current authoritative records before building a brand or purchase plan around either one.
How .agent, .agi and .ai compare
| Extension | Verified status | What to know before choosing |
|---|---|---|
.ai |
Delegated ccTLD managed by the Government of Anguilla, according to IANA’s .AI delegation record. | It is commonly used as an AI-related brand cue, but that marketing association does not change its country-code status. IANA lists nic.ai as the registration-services URL; that does not confirm availability or price for a particular name. |
.agent |
Current delegation and public-registration status are not established by the official sources reviewed. | Check the IANA Root Zone Database and an appropriate registry or registrar before treating it as obtainable. |
.agi |
Current delegation and public-registration status are not established by the official sources reviewed. | Check the IANA Root Zone Database and an appropriate registry or registrar before treating it as obtainable. |
Is .ai a country-code domain?
Yes. IANA classifies .ai as a country-code top-level domain and identifies its manager as “Government of Anguilla, Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Utilities.” The delegation record was last updated February 11, 2025. Its familiar association with artificial intelligence is useful for branding, but it does not make .ai a generic top-level domain (gTLD).

Can I register a .agent or .agi domain?
The reviewed official evidence does not establish either extension as a currently delegated, publicly registrable TLD. A proposed string, an application, or a news report about a possible launch is not proof that it is live in the DNS or available for registration. ICANN’s New gTLD Program describes a process for adding gTLDs; the program itself does not confirm that these particular strings are operating extensions.
Before relying on either name, look for the extension in IANA’s current root-zone database, then confirm registration rules and availability with the relevant registry or registrar. If the extension is not delegated, a registrar search result or a branded service using the text does not by itself mean you can register a domain under it.

How to choose an extension for your brand
- Confirm the extension exists for public registration. Check IANA’s root-zone record, then verify the registry or operator’s current rules. Do not base a launch on a prospective TLD.
- Check the exact name. Search the complete domain, not just the extension. A live TLD does not mean your preferred name is available.
- Compare the full cost and contract terms. Review first-year, renewal, and transfer fees for the exact name, along with the registrar agreement. ICANN notes that fees and these terms are governed by that agreement, so an introductory price alone is not a sufficient comparison.
- Match the signal to your audience.
.aican communicate an AI connection, while remaining a ccTLD. Consider whether that association fits your organization and whether customers will understand and remember the extension. - Account for continuity risk. If an extension is unavailable or its registration terms change, a brand dependent on it may need a different domain. Confirm the rules before committing the name to products, email, and marketing.
Where domain registration happens
Registration channels differ by TLD type. ICANN’s domain registration guidance says gTLD names are registered through ICANN-accredited registrars or their resellers, while ccTLD names are registered through the relevant ccTLD operator. For .ai, IANA’s delegation record lists nic.ai as the registration-services URL. Check the applicable operator or provider for current availability, rules, and terms.
