Aero Shake Is Still in Windows 11: How to Turn It On

Turn on Windows 11’s Title bar window shake setting to use the familiar Aero Shake gesture and minimize other open windows.

Windows 11 still has Aero Shake, now labeled Title bar window shake. Go to Settings > System > Multitasking, switch it on, then shake the title bar of the window you want to keep in view.

Enable Title bar window shake in Windows 11

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select System, then Multitasking.
  3. Turn on Title bar window shake. Microsoft documents this toggle as the way to minimize all open windows except the one you are working on: Microsoft Support: Multitasking in Windows 11.

Use the Aero Shake gesture

Grab the title bar of the window you want to keep open and shake it. Other open windows are minimized; the selected window remains available. Shake the title bar again to restore the minimized windows, if needed.

Why it is called Aero Shake

Aero Shake is the familiar name for the gesture: a Windows 7 reference document describes shaking a window to minimize the others, and a Windows 11 guide uses the same name for the feature. In Windows 11 Settings, however, look for Title bar window shake.

What to know if you cannot find the setting

The documented route is Settings > System > Multitasking. The available sources do not establish whether the setting’s default state or availability varies by Windows 11 build, edition, or administrator policy. The documented enablement step requires turning on the toggle; no separate product or paid service is identified as necessary.
