AdvancedMD offers two different ways to handle medical billing: software that your own staff use, and managed revenue cycle management (RCM) performed by AdvancedMD’s service team. Its public pricing page lists managed RCM at 4–8% of collections, alongside software options priced per claim or per provider. Those figures are published ranges, not a practice-specific quote; the exact fee and scope need to be confirmed in writing.
What are you paying for: billing software or managed RCM?
With software-only billing, your practice keeps the billing work in-house and uses AdvancedMD’s tools to manage it. The platform describes features such as eligibility checks, claims scrubbing, denial tracking, accounts-receivable worklists, payment posting, dashboards and reporting. Your own team remains responsible for working claims and following up with payers.

With managed RCM, AdvancedMD says its team handles billing tasks such as claim submission, payment posting, denial management, unpaid claims and appeals. The company says RCM customers receive the core software platform at no additional charge. That does not establish that every setup, migration, add-on or other contract charge is included.

How much does AdvancedMD medical billing cost?
AdvancedMD’s public pricing page, reviewed in 2026, lists a 4–8% collections range for managed RCM. The company says the percentage depends on practice size, specialty and complexity. It describes the typical calculation as a percentage of monthly collections, but the public range does not define what counts as collections for an individual contract.
Software-only pricing varies by billing model and specialty. The figures below are vendor-published ranges, not a complete quote; confirm the configuration and current terms with AdvancedMD.
Rank #2
| Option | Published price | What the figure describes |
|---|---|---|
| Managed RCM | 4–8% of collections | Vendor-published range for outsourced billing; actual percentage depends on the practice. |
| Practice management, priced per claim | $0.87–$1.74 per claim | Vendor-published encounter pricing for practice management. |
| Practice management plus EHR, priced per claim | $1.08–$2.17 per claim | Vendor-published encounter pricing for the bundle. |
| Medical-specialty software | $429–$1,070 per provider monthly | Vendor-published software range; pricing varies by features. |
| Mental-health software | $130–$399 per provider monthly | Vendor-published software range; pricing varies by features. |
| Physical medicine and addiction-medicine software | $399 per provider monthly | Vendor-published software figure. |
| MedSpa software | $278 per provider monthly | Vendor-published software figure. |
AdvancedMD defines a provider for its specialty pricing as a mid-level clinician or higher. The monthly per-provider figures are software prices, not the managed RCM percentage. The public page does not establish that any one row represents an all-in cost for a particular practice. See AdvancedMD’s pricing page for its published rates and configuration details.
Can low-volume practices pay per claim?
AdvancedMD publishes per-claim pricing and says this model can suit lower-volume practices. The company suggests practices averaging 250–500 claims monthly may find encounter pricing more cost-effective than a flat subscription. That is vendor guidance, not an independent break-even calculation. Compare the applicable per-claim rate with the exact subscription quote using your own claim volume and the modules you need.
Rank #3
What does AdvancedMD charge billing companies?
AdvancedMD lists billing-company software tiers at $229–$1,070 per provider monthly, based on the number of clients managed, and says volume discounts may be available. This is a software subscription for billing service companies; it is not the 4–8% public range for outsourcing a medical practice’s RCM. AdvancedMD also describes AdvancedBiller partner resources, including premium support, co-branded marketing and a marketplace listing. The cited pricing information does not establish referral commissions or current eligibility. See AdvancedMD’s billing-service software pricing page.
What setup and migration charges should you check?
AdvancedMD publishes onboarding timelines of about 90 days for software and 6–8 weeks for RCM. It lists setup fees ranging from free to $1,000 for smaller practices and up to $6,000 for more complex enterprise clients. The company also lists practice-management migration prices of $800, $1,200 and $2,000 for three data tiers. Those migration tiers exclude financial transaction history; clinical EHR migration requires a separate quote.

What the public customer reviews do—and don’t—show
The Better Business Bureau review page displayed an average of 1 from six customer reviews when accessed in 2026. Posts included allegations concerning billing errors, support difficulties, cancellation problems and trouble obtaining records. AdvancedMD responded to some entries, including disputing part of a cancellation account and offering temporary record access. These are individual customer accounts and company responses, not independently established findings.
Best Value
Six self-selected reviews are too small a sample to show how typical those experiences are or to establish general service quality. Treat the page as a prompt to check contract, support and data-access terms rather than as a representative performance measure. Read the BBB customer review page with that limitation in mind.
What to get in writing before signing
The public ranges do not answer several questions that can materially change the total cost. Request written answers to these points in the proposal or contract:
- For managed RCM, exactly what counts as “collections,” and whether the percentage applies to patient payments, prior-period accounts receivable or both.
- Whether the service has a minimum fee, excludes particular billing tasks, or charges separately for denials, appeals or payer enrollment.
- Which software modules, reports, support and billing workflows are included in the quoted price.
- Setup, migration, training, add-on and transaction charges, including whether financial transaction history and clinical records will migrate.
- Contract length, renewal, cancellation terms, record export and access to records after termination.
If you are comparing managed RCM providers, use the same claim sample, payer mix, specialty and collection definition for every quote. If comparing software with outsourcing, account for who will do follow-up, appeals, denial work and payment posting—not just the visible subscription or percentage.
