Acer’s modern GPU-equipped laptops split broadly into two lines: Nitro for mainstream gaming and everyday use, and Predator Helios for higher GPU configurations and gaming or creator-focused workloads. The family names alone do not tell you what a particular laptop can do: check the exact model, GPU, display and regional configuration before buying.
How Acer’s laptop GPU lineup is changing
Acer’s announcements show RTX 50 Series Laptop GPUs appearing across both Nitro and Predator families, paired in newer models with Intel Core Ultra processors. In January 2026, Acer announced a broader Nitro and Predator laptop lineup built around Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors and RTX 50 Series Laptop GPUs. That announcement describes a product direction, not a controlled comparison of laptop performance. Acer’s January 2026 announcement

The available product information supports a tiered reading of the portfolio, rather than the claim that GPUs alone define Acer’s entire laptop strategy. GPU model is one useful selection factor, alongside the exact SKU, screen, intended workload, portability and cooling.
What Nitro offers
Nitro V 16 AI: everyday use and gaming
Acer presents the Nitro V 16 AI for everyday use and gaming, with configurations up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU and Intel Core Ultra 7 355. “Up to” identifies the family’s configuration ceiling; it does not mean every Nitro V 16 AI includes that processor or GPU. Confirm the precise SKU in the market where you plan to buy. Acer Nitro V 16 AI product page

What Predator Helios offers
Helios Neo 16 AI and 18 AI
In February 2025, Acer announced Predator Helios Neo 16 AI and 18 AI models with configurations up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU. Acer also lists a specific Helios Neo 16 AI configuration, SKU PHN16-73-98MC, part NH.U0UAA.004. That model identifier is a useful starting point for checking the specifications available in your region; the announcement’s maximum configuration should not be assumed for every unit. Helios 18 AI: Acer’s announced flagship GPU configuration
Acer’s May 2026 announcement describes the Predator Helios 18 AI with configurations up to an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. This is the highest GPU ceiling among the specific Nitro and Predator models described here, but it is a family maximum in an announcement—not evidence that every Helios 18 AI has that GPU or that it outperforms another laptop in a particular task. - For everyday use and gaming: start with Nitro V 16 AI, then verify the GPU and screen in the specific listing.
- For a higher stated GPU ceiling: compare the exact Predator Helios configuration with Nitro options. A family’s maximum GPU is not a substitute for checking the laptop’s actual GPU.
- For creative software: confirm that your applications are among the intended workloads and check the full system configuration. Acer names Adobe Creative Cloud, Blender, DaVinci Resolve and OBS Studio for Helios, but provides no measured results here.
- For portability or thermals: check the exact model’s dimensions, weight and cooling details. The cited announcements do not provide a controlled comparison of these factors across the families.
What Acer’s RTX and DLSS claims mean
Acer describes RTX 50 Series laptops as using NVIDIA Blackwell and DLSS 4, and associates RTX features with gaming and creative tasks. Its Nitro V 16 AI page says: “DLSS is a revolutionary suite of neural rendering technologies that uses AI to boost FPS, reduce latency, and improve image quality.” That is Acer’s description of the feature, not an independent test result for a Nitro or Predator laptop. Acer Nitro V 16 AI product page
The Acer product pages and announcements cited here do not establish independent laptop benchmarks, controlled comparisons between Acer models, or measured advantages over competing laptops. They therefore do not support specific real-world frame-rate or creator-workflow claims. Treat “AI PC” and GPU feature language as product positioning unless it is accompanied by results from testing the exact configuration and workload.
Quick Recap
How to check a specific Acer laptop before buying
- Find the full model identifier. Use the complete SKU or part number from the listing, not just “Nitro” or “Predator Helios.” For example, Acer’s official listing identifies the Helios Neo 16 AI model PHN16-73-98MC as part NH.U0UAA.004.
- Confirm the laptop GPU. Check that the listing names the exact Laptop GPU model you want. “Up to RTX 5070” or “up to RTX 5090” describes a family maximum, not necessarily the configuration for sale.
- Check the screen on that SKU. Confirm resolution, refresh rate and color coverage from the exact product listing; do not transfer Nitro V 16 AI family specifications to another Nitro or Predator model.
- Match the system to your workload. For gaming, consider the games and display you intend to use; for creative work, check your software’s requirements and the complete laptop configuration. Acer’s named application examples are not performance guarantees.
- Verify local price and stock. Product options and availability can differ by region and configuration. Check the current seller listing for the market where you will buy.
