LF Energy Summit Europe 2026 was a two-day event in Berlin on September 15–16, 2026, focused on open-source software, standards and data for energy systems. The summit has ended; LF Energy directs visitors to session recordings and speaker presentations through its event page and schedule.

What was LF Energy Summit Europe?

LF Energy describes the summit as an annual gathering for people building open-source software, standards and data for the energy sector. It was aimed at utilities, grid operators, technology vendors, energy companies, policymakers, researchers and practitioners—not consumers looking for household energy products.

The organizer’s stated premise is that utilities and vendors can collaborate on shared, non-competitive digital building blocks for grid modernization. The event description characterizes the goal as developing production-grade digital infrastructure; this is LF Energy’s framing, not an independent assessment of the projects’ impact. When and where did the 2026 summit take place?

The summit took place September 15–16, 2026, in Berlin, Germany. It is over. The historical schedule listed session times in Central European Summer Time (CEST) and cautioned that times and room locations could change. The event schedule is useful for looking up program details, but it should not be treated as a current or future event listing.

What topics and projects were on the program?

The announced program covered several layers of energy-system technology, from grid operations to devices and homes, alongside policy and software-development discussions. LF Energy’s agenda named projects including Dynaωo, OpenSTEF, PowSyBl, SEAPATH, OpenGridFM, OperatorFabric, CoMPAS, EVerest, AINETUS and TROLIE. The agenda describes planned sessions; it does not by itself establish that every session occurred as announced or independently validate project results. The organizer’s agenda announcement provides program descriptions.

Grid simulation, forecasting and operations

Sessions addressed transmission simulation and forecasting, including Dynaωo, OpenSTEF and PowSyBl. The agenda said RTE researchers would present an analysis of the April 2025 Iberian blackout using Dynaωo. That is a description of the announced presentation, not an independent verification of its findings.

Substations, charging and home energy

Digital substations and EV charging firmware were part of the program, alongside home energy management. Named projects included SEAPATH, CoMPAS and EVerest. The schedule announcement also described tutorials for Dynaωo, OpenSTEF, CoMPAS, and the OpenGridFM/GENCO toolchain, with meetups and workshops around the two main conference days.

Cybersecurity, AI and strategy

Other sessions addressed cybersecurity and sovereignty, AI and foundation models, and open-source strategy. Keynote themes included open source in action in the energy sector and digital sovereignty. The announced keynote lineup represented LF Energy, Alliander, Sia, the European Commission, RTE and SUSE; the announcement identified Rolf Riemenschneider as the European Commission’s Head of Sector IoT and Nathalie Lemaître as Managing Director of RTE’s Customers, Systems and Innovation Division. The keynote announcement has the speaker details.
