On October 2, 2026, 67.4 million PT-AUSD-8OCT2026 tokens were reported as collateral in Aave V3’s Monad market. That PT matured on October 8. TokenLogic proposed listing a later-maturing AUSD principal token on the same Aave market, but the cited materials do not establish that the listing was approved or executed.
What is happening with Aave, Pendle and the October AUSD PT?
Pendle splits a yield-bearing position into a Principal Token (PT), representing the principal side, and a Yield Token (YT), representing the yield stream over the remaining term. A PT generally trades below its redemption value before maturity and moves toward that value as maturity approaches. At maturity, the principal claim can be redeemed; that is separate from any yield or rebate stream.

CryptoSlate reported that 67.4 million PT-AUSD-8OCT2026 were supplied as collateral in Aave V3 on Monad as of October 2, 2026. The token matured on October 8 and was redeemable for one AUSD at maturity. The reported collateral amount is a dated snapshot: it does not show how much was later redeemed, sold, or moved into another position.
A separate PT-AUSD-17DEC2026 existed on Pendle. TokenLogic’s September 25 proposal recommended onboarding it to Aave V3 Monad, creating a potential later-term collateral destination. Aave’s market could let holders borrow against the PT rather than sell it, but the proposal’s existence does not mean the December PT was already available as Aave collateral.

What was proposed for the December PT?
TokenLogic proposed a 20 million initial supply cap and a dedicated stablecoin eMode for PT-AUSD-17DEC2026. Under the proposal, the PT reserve itself would not allow borrowing; the proposed eMode would allow PT-AUSD collateral to support borrowing USDT0, USDC, GHO, or USDe, subject to the proposed parameters. TokenLogic called for community feedback followed by escalation to the AIP stage.
LlamaRisk supported onboarding in its October 2 assessment, describing the December PT as the only AUSD principal-token maturity on Monad extending beyond the October PT’s maturity. It identified the token as a possible rollover destination and discussed migration of up to 67.4 million PT; that was a possibility, not an observed migration. The proposal and assessment do not establish a final vote or on-chain execution of the December listing.
Could the December pool absorb the October position?
That remained an open question in the October 2 snapshot. LlamaRisk reported $1.61 million in liquidity in the PT-AUSD-17DEC2026 Pendle pool and 904,717 PT-AUSD-17DEC2026 outstanding. These are pool and token-market figures, respectively, and they should not be equated with the 67.4 million October PT reported as Aave collateral. The figures do not establish that the December pool could absorb a large wave of sellers or rollovers without significant price impact.

That was a market observation at that time, not a promised return or a forecast of what a buyer would earn. The proposed 20 million supply cap was a governance parameter, not a confirmed deployed limit.

Why collateral utility might keep capital in DeFi
A PT held as Aave collateral may remain useful to its owner without being sold: the holder can borrow other assets against it, subject to Aave’s collateral rules. Aave’s earlier PT assessment describes the category as fixed-rate-like assets and notes potential liquidity benefits from adding them as collateral. In this case, the proposed eMode would connect the PT-AUSD collateral to specified stablecoin borrowing options.
That utility does not make a PT cash-equivalent or guarantee an exit at a particular price. The holder is exposed to collateral valuation, liquidation, liquidity and maturity-management risks. The principal redemption claim and the separate AUSD rebate stream are also distinct: LlamaRisk’s assessment says the principal claim remains independent of whether the rebate continues.

The key test is what holders do as the October PT reaches and passes maturity: whether they redeem or sell, or move into a later PT while retaining collateral utility. A collateral balance before maturity cannot answer that question. CryptoSlate quoted a DeFi researcher identified as Andree: “Fixed yield becomes collateral. Collateral creates credit. Then the next maturity keeps the cycle moving,” but that is a thesis about a possible cycle, not evidence that it occurred.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Availability: Confirm that the December PT was actually listed and enabled as collateral on Aave, rather than relying on the proposal.
- Market depth: Compare Pendle pool liquidity with the size of any intended trade; a dated pool snapshot cannot predict slippage for a future order.
- Economics: Compare the PT’s current implied yield with the applicable borrowing cost, distinguishing market-implied yield from variable borrowing rates.
- Risk settings: Review collateral parameters, pricing and oracle methodology, liquidation conditions, and the underlying AUSD risks.
- Observed behavior: Look for actual supply, redemption, sale, or migration after maturity; the October 2 collateral figure measures supply, not user intent or subsequent action.
What the evidence supports—and what it does not
The evidence supports a plausible infrastructure path: a later-maturing Pendle PT could be listed as Aave collateral, allowing some users to continue borrowing against yield-linked principal rather than leaving that position at maturity. It does not establish completed onboarding, sufficient liquidity for the October position, or that users chose to roll over. Whether yield capital stays in DeFi depends on listing status, market depth, risk terms and user decisions—not just on the existence of a later maturity.
