In Geekbench’s chart, the iPhone 17 with A19 scores 2,995 single-core and 8,280 multi-core, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max with A15 Bionic scores 2,113 and 5,473. That works out to about 42% higher single-core and 51% higher multi-core scores for the iPhone 17 in this chart.
Geekbench scores: iPhone 17 vs iPhone 13 Pro Max
Geekbench’s iOS chart reports these average results for the named devices:

| Phone and chip | Single-core | Multi-core |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone 17 with A19 | 2,995 | 8,280 |
| iPhone 13 Pro Max with A15 Bionic | 2,113 | 5,473 |
On those displayed scores, the iPhone 17 result is about 1.42 times as high in single-core and 1.51 times as high in multi-core. Geekbench says higher scores are better and that a score twice as high indicates twice the performance. The ratios here are arithmetic comparisons of the chart entries, not a guaranteed speedup in every app.

Geekbench’s chart is based on user-submitted results and includes a device only after at least five unique results. The figures can change as new results arrive. Because the entries are for different phone models, they reflect the whole device and its test conditions as well as the processor; they are not a controlled chip-only comparison. See Geekbench’s iOS benchmark chart and methodology.

How the A19 and A15 specifications differ
| Specification | A19 in iPhone 17 | A15 Bionic in Apple’s listed phones |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Six cores: two performance and four efficiency cores | Six-core CPU |
| GPU | Five cores with Neural Accelerators | Four or five cores, depending on the phone |
| Neural Engine | 16 cores | 16 cores in the listed A15 devices |
| Ray tracing | Hardware-accelerated ray tracing listed by Apple | Not listed in Apple’s reviewed comparison |
Apple’s specifications describe the A19 configuration in iPhone 17, while its model comparison shows that A15-equipped iPhones do not all have the same GPU core count. So “A15 Bionic” alone does not identify one exact GPU configuration. Apple’s iPhone 17 technical specifications list the A19 features and 256GB and 512GB storage options; Apple’s iPhone comparison shows the A15 device variations.
What the comparison says about graphics and AI
The specifications give the A19 a five-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and explicitly list hardware-accelerated ray tracing. Apple’s reviewed A15 comparison lists either four or five GPU cores, but does not list ray tracing there. These are useful feature distinctions, not a direct measurement of game frame rates or graphics performance across particular apps.

Both generations have a 16-core Neural Engine in the Apple specifications reviewed here. Core count alone does not establish equal AI performance, and these sources do not provide a direct measured Neural Engine speed comparison. Treat claims about a specific AI task as unproven by this comparison unless they are backed by a test of that task.
Does the A19 make a phone feel faster?
The Geekbench results support a clear CPU benchmark advantage for the iPhone 17/A19 over the iPhone 13 Pro Max/A15 in this chart. They do not establish how much faster a particular game will run, how well either phone sustains performance under heat, or how much longer one battery lasts. Those outcomes depend on the workload and the phone, not just the chip.

A separate comparison page from 91mobiles reports other Geekbench and AnTuTu figures, but the reviewed page does not adequately identify benchmark versions, device conditions, or methodology. Those numbers should not be combined with Geekbench’s live chart or treated as directly equivalent results. See 91mobiles’ A19 and A15 comparison.

If you are choosing between phones, the A19’s benchmark lead and newer listed graphics features favor iPhone 17 on chip specifications. But the chip comparison alone cannot determine which phone is the better purchase: price, storage, condition, battery health, software needs, and current availability all matter. Apple lists iPhone 17 in 256GB and 512GB capacities; the Geekbench A15 result discussed above is specifically for iPhone 13 Pro Max, so check the exact A15 model when comparing another phone.
