Apple’s A19 Pro leads in the cited Geekbench 6 CPU results, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phone edges ahead in one cited graphics test. That is a comparison of two phones, not a controlled chip-only contest: cooling, power limits, firmware, operating system and benchmark version all affect scores.
What the benchmark results show
The clearest same-review comparison here is between the iPhone 17 Pro with A19 Pro and the Galaxy S25 Ultra identified as having Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Tom’s Guide reported these results in 2025:

| Benchmark | iPhone 17 Pro (A19 Pro) | Galaxy S25 Ultra (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3) | What the result indicates |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 3,834 | 3,031 | A19 Pro phone scored higher |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 9,988 | 9,829 | A19 Pro phone scored slightly higher |
| 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited | 158.37 fps | 161.66 fps | Snapdragon phone scored slightly higher |
These are reported phone-level results from Tom’s Guide’s iPhone 17 Pro review. They suggest a strong A19 Pro showing in the CPU tests and a narrow Snapdragon advantage in that graphics workload—not a universal ranking of the chips.
Why other benchmark tables show different scores
Live comparison databases aggregate results from different submissions and test conditions, so their figures are not interchangeable with a single review’s phone-to-phone run.

Benchmark databases can change as submissions arrive. Treat their scores as dated snapshots and check the benchmark version, tested phone and sample count before comparing figures. Geekbench publishes its mobile benchmark results at Primate Labs’ Geekbench Mobile Benchmarks.
What each test can—and cannot—tell you
Single-core CPU
Geekbench’s single-core score measures a set of CPU tasks running on one core. It can help indicate responsiveness in workloads that do not use many cores, but it is not a direct measure of how every app will feel. In Tom’s Guide’s cited run, the iPhone 17 Pro scored 3,834 versus 3,031 for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Multi-core CPU
Multi-core scores reflect work distributed across multiple CPU cores. The same review reported 9,988 for the iPhone and 9,829 for the Galaxy—close results, with the iPhone ahead in that run. Other devices or test conditions may produce different outcomes.

Tom’s Guide’s 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited results were 158.37 fps for the iPhone 17 Pro and 161.66 fps for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. That small Snapdragon-phone lead applies to this named benchmark and these devices; it does not establish which phone will deliver higher frame rates in every game. Game engines, graphics settings, drivers, heat and power limits also matter.

Sustained performance, heat and battery life
A short benchmark score does not establish how fast a phone stays during a long gaming session or demanding export. The available comparisons do not provide a matched, controlled sustained-performance or battery test for these two chips. Phone design, cooling, software, display and battery capacity all affect those outcomes, so the cited CPU and graphics scores cannot determine which handset runs cooler or lasts longer.
Specifications and platform differences
The A19 Pro is the newer chip in this comparison. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is Qualcomm’s Android mobile platform; Qualcomm’s product brief documents Adreno graphics, Kryo CPU, Hexagon AI components and an X75 modem-RF system. Those are platform components, not a promise that every phone implements every capability in the same way.

Qualcomm states in its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform Product Brief: “Maximum CPU speed will vary based on platform version. Consult OEM specifications for device CPU speed.” In practice, check the specifications for the particular handset rather than assuming one CPU clock speed applies across all Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phones.
The A19 Pro is used in Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro in the cited review. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 appears across Android phones, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra serving as the example in Tom’s Guide’s results. Chip names alone do not describe a phone’s full specifications, thermal design or software support.

AI, connectivity and ecosystem
Qualcomm’s platform brief identifies Hexagon AI components and the X75 modem-RF system for Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The cited evidence does not provide a matched AI benchmark or a comparable set of modem performance measurements for A19 Pro and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. A component list therefore cannot settle which phone handles a particular AI feature or delivers better real-world connectivity.
These chips also belong to different phone ecosystems: A19 Pro is part of Apple’s iPhone platform, while Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is used in Android devices. If choosing a phone, operating system, apps, update policy, device features and the specific handset may matter more than a small difference in one synthetic score.
Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
- For the cited CPU benchmarks: the A19 Pro-equipped iPhone 17 Pro scored higher in both Geekbench 6 tests in Tom’s Guide’s 2025 comparison.
- For the cited graphics result: the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-equipped Galaxy S25 Ultra scored slightly higher in 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited.
- For buying a phone: compare the actual models, not only their processors. The reported scores do not establish a winner for battery life, sustained gaming, heat or every app.
