Short answer: XSplit Broadcaster’s current published pricing comparison and FAQ do not state a maximum continuous-stream duration for either Free or Premium. That is not a promise of unlimited runtime, and the reviewed materials do not say that Premium is required to keep one YouTube stream running continuously. YouTube has separate caveats for streams longer than 12 hours: the archive may not be captured, and DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable.
Does XSplit Broadcaster impose a time limit?
No maximum duration is stated in XSplit’s published Free and Premium comparison or its Broadcaster FAQ. The careful conclusion is that those pages do not publish a duration cap—not that XSplit guarantees a stream can run forever. Check the current terms if a specific long-running production depends on them.
XSplit describes Broadcaster as Windows software for live streaming and recording, with outputs available through platform plugins or Custom RTMP. Premium supports simultaneous streaming to multiple services, but that capability does not establish a maximum runtime for one output or remove a duration limit. See the XSplit Broadcaster product page.
Do you need Premium for a continuous stream?
The published comparison describes feature and usage differences, not a continuous-stream duration difference. It lists Free at $0, with streaming up to 720p without a watermark, up to four scenes, and personal use only. Higher resolutions and some frame-rate use can add a watermark on Free. Premium includes commercial use, unlimited scenes, unrestricted resolution, and additional production features. Neither tier is assigned a stated stream-duration cap in the reviewed materials.

Choose Premium for its stated rights and features if you need them, not on the assumption that it unlocks unlimited runtime.
Can you stream on YouTube for 24 hours?
YouTube’s cited help pages do not describe a universal 12-hour cutoff that necessarily ends a live broadcast. They describe separate archive and DVR limitations. Thus, XSplit’s published license information does not establish a 24-hour cap, while YouTube’s documentation warns about what may happen to a long stream’s recording and rewind features.

Archiving a stream longer than 12 hours
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving the full footage matters, do not rely on the automatic archive for a 24-hour session. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. Details are in YouTube’s archive guidance.
DVR rewind on long streams
YouTube says DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. This is distinct from whether the live broadcast continues. See YouTube’s DVR guidance.

Prepare XSplit and YouTube for a long broadcast
Duration alone does not make a stream reliable. Encoder settings, upload capacity, local recording storage, and monitoring all matter. YouTube’s guidance below applies to the platform’s ingest and operations, not to XSplit license terms.
- Check YouTube’s current encoder guidance. For H.264, YouTube recommends 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 6 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. These are the listed recommendations for those specific formats; consult YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance for other configurations.
- Leave upload bandwidth headroom. YouTube advises having sufficient upload bandwidth rather than operating at the connection’s limit. Other devices and network use can compete with the encoder, so assess the connection under realistic conditions. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Test and monitor stream health. YouTube recommends testing before going live and monitoring the stream’s health while it runs. Use RTMPS where available, as YouTube recommends.
- Record locally and verify the file. Set up a local recording if the footage must be preserved, make sure the destination has enough free space for the planned run, and check that the recording file is growing correctly. A local copy is a backup, not a replacement for monitoring the live output.
