Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallFor an ordinary webpage you can open in Linux, start with your browser’s Print → Save as PDF option. It keeps the page in your browser and avoids sending its URL to a separate converter. Use a browser-based HTML tool when you have a saved or pasted HTML document; choose an online URL converter only when you need its extra rendering controls and are comfortable with its service handling the page.
Which kind of HTML-to-PDF conversion do you need?
“HTML to PDF” can mean three different jobs: printing a live page already open in your browser, turning pasted or saved HTML into a document, or asking an online service to fetch a public URL and render it. These approaches do not have the same access to JavaScript, remote assets, login-protected content, or private data.
- Live page you can open: use the browser’s print dialog first.
- Saved .html file or markup: choose a tool that explicitly accepts files or pasted HTML.
- Public URL plus print controls: an online URL converter may fit, but check its limits and privacy terms.
Best options for Linux
1. Browser Print → Save as PDF for a page you can open
PDF Tools Base describes a URL workflow that opens the page in a new tab and uses the browser’s print dialog: press Ctrl+P on Linux and choose Save as PDF as the destination. The browser writes the PDF locally. This is the simplest choice for a page that loads normally in your browser, and it lets you inspect print settings before saving. PDF Tools Base
This method is not a remote rendering service: according to PDF Tools Base, its URL path does not proxy the page, bypass CORS, or render JavaScript from an external page. Its separate pasted-HTML path extracts visible text into a text-only PDF, so do not mistake it for a styled-page export. Browser print styles, page breaks, backgrounds, and settings can affect the output.

2. PDF Edit for pasted or saved HTML
PDF Edit says it accepts dropped HTML files or pasted markup, offers page-size and orientation choices, and saves the PDF to the device. The vendor says processing happens in the browser and the HTML is not uploaded; that is a vendor privacy claim, not an independently verified network audit. Its page also points to the browser’s native Save as PDF for exporting a page already open in Chrome.
3. Falcon PDF for self-contained HTML
Falcon PDF accepts pasted HTML or a dropped file and produces multi-page A4 output. It cannot convert a live webpage by URL. Its page says a locked iframe prevents external images, fonts, stylesheets, and scripts from loading, while data URIs embedded in the document remain available. That restriction may suit self-contained HTML, but remote assets expected by the source document can be missing. Falcon says conversion is local; that statement has not been independently verified.

4. SelectPdf demo for a public URL and print controls
SelectPdf describes an in-browser demo that accepts a public URL and runs Chromium. Its documented controls include paper size, orientation, PDF passwords, CSS print media, viewport dimensions, and load timing. The demo is limited to five pages per output and adds a watermark; longer documents are truncated. SelectPdf says it streams the generated PDF back and discards it, a service claim rather than an independent privacy audit.
SelectPdf lists a separate REST API for production use and, on the page reviewed in 2026, a 200-conversion trial and plans starting at $19 per month. These terms and prices can change, so check the current page before relying on them. The demo’s five-page cap and watermark do not establish the API’s limits or terms.

5. PDFLinx for multiple input types
PDFLinx advertises raw HTML, public webpage URLs, and saved HTML files as inputs. It describes headless-browser rendering with support for CSS, fonts, images, and layout. Its own FAQ qualifies those claims: URL mode is not for login-protected pages, and delayed or interaction-dependent JavaScript may not finish rendering. In HTML-code mode, external images may fail; PDFLinx recommends base64-encoded images. Its HTTPS-processing and deletion statements are vendor claims, not independently tested guarantees.
Compare the options by input, rendering, and privacy
| Option | Input and where rendering happens | Important limits or controls | Privacy and access considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Browser Print → Save as PDF | Live page opened in your browser; rendered by the browser | Uses browser print settings; output can vary with print CSS, page breaks, and backgrounds | PDF Tools Base says its URL workflow opens the page in your browser rather than proxying it. The page must be accessible to your browser. |
| PDF Edit | Pasted markup or local HTML file; vendor says conversion runs in the browser | Page size and orientation | Vendor says HTML is not uploaded; not independently audited here. |
| Falcon PDF | Pasted markup or local HTML file; vendor says conversion is local | Multi-page A4; external resources blocked in its locked iframe | Cannot fetch a live URL; remote assets may be omitted. |
| SelectPdf demo | Public URL; browser demo runs Chromium | Paper, orientation, password, print media, viewport, and load timing; five-page cap and watermark | Vendor says the PDF is streamed back and discarded. Not an independent audit; public URL only. |
| PDFLinx | Raw HTML, saved file, or public URL; advertises headless-browser rendering | CSS, fonts, images, and layout advertised; delayed or interaction-dependent JavaScript may not finish | URL mode does not support login-protected pages. Processing and deletion statements are vendor claims. |
Privacy descriptions in this table summarize what the vendors say; they are not independently verified security findings. A local workflow and a service that fetches a URL should not be treated as equivalent, especially for sensitive material.

How to choose and check the resulting PDF
- Identify the source. For a page you can open, try the browser print dialog. For markup or a file, confirm the converter accepts that exact input. For a URL service, check that the page is public and reachable without a login.
- Check how assets load. Fonts, images, stylesheets, and scripts may be remote. A tool that blocks external requests cannot preserve assets it cannot access; HTML-code modes may require embedded images.
- Set the print layout. Review paper size, orientation, margins if offered, viewport, print-media CSS, backgrounds, and page-break behavior. A page designed for screens may not paginate cleanly.
- Allow dynamic content time to load. If a page relies on delayed JavaScript or interaction, inspect whether the tool has load-timing controls. A static conversion may miss content that appears only after scrolling or clicking.
- Open and inspect the PDF. Check the first and last pages, page count, clipped sections, missing images or fonts, headers and footers, and any watermark or truncation before sharing or archiving it.
Common problems and fixes
- The PDF is text-only or unstyled: confirm you used a styled-page workflow rather than PDF Tools Base’s pasted-HTML text extraction; check whether print CSS hides or changes screen elements.
- Images, fonts, or styles are missing: verify that the browser or service can reach the asset URLs. Falcon blocks external resources in its iframe; for PDFLinx HTML-code mode, the vendor recommends base64-encoded images.
- The page is incomplete: delayed or interaction-dependent JavaScript may not have rendered. Try a tool with load-timing controls, wait for content in the source browser before printing, and inspect page breaks.
- A URL converter cannot open the page: check whether it requires a public page. PDFLinx says its URL mode does not support login-protected pages; PDF Tools Base instead opens the URL in your own browser.
- The SelectPdf output is cut short or marked: its browser demo has a five-page maximum and watermark. Use a different workflow for a longer clean document, or check the separate API’s current terms rather than assuming the demo’s restrictions apply identically.
Or skip the browser setup
If your actual goal is a clean image or PDF capture of a webpage rather than a locally converted HTML document, ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server for developers. Its GET endpoint can return a screenshot or PDF; see the API documentation for options. For example, this cURL request captures a page as WebP:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
