TechRadar’s 6 October 2026 roundup names six deals for improving wired listening or gaming audio, from £79 IEMs to portable DACs and a desktop DAC/amp. The products serve different needs, and the listed prices are retailer- and region-specific snapshots—not confirmation that a sale is still live.
What’s in the roundup?
The list is not six interchangeable portable devices: it includes wired earphones, several portable DACs and one desktop DAC/headphone amplifier. TechRadar says the picks are for listeners looking to improve wired IEMs or a player they already own. It does not report a systematic head-to-head sound-quality test, so the offers below are best compared by device type and intended use.

For wired IEMs without buying a DAC
The Activo Scoop is the roundup’s only pair of earphones. TechRadar describes each earpiece as having five drivers and lists the UK price at £79, down from £99. The article does not provide a comparative listening test or enough detail to establish how the Scoops sound against other IEMs.

For a portable USB DAC
The AK HC3 and AK HC4 are the small DAC options in the roundup. TechRadar positions the HC3 as a DAC with a microphone for gamers; the HC4 is described as a small DAC. The article does not specify enough about their connections or comparative performance to declare one a better match for every phone or headphone setup. Check the retailer listing for device compatibility before buying.
For Bluetooth as well as wired connections
The HB1 is the only pick for which the roundup explicitly lists both wired and wireless connection options. It says the DAC can connect over USB-C or Lightning using the included USB-C-to-USB-C and USB-C-to-Lightning cables, or connect over Bluetooth. TechRadar gives £149 from £199 in its prose and separately shows $284 on a B&H Photo card; those are not a single universal price.

For a portable DAC at a US retailer
The iFi GO Bar Kensei appears with a $449 price at Best Buy under a “Coupons” label. TechRadar supplies no previous price, so there is no basis in the roundup for calculating a discount. Its description includes a phrase from an earlier review, “stylish steel swordsman of portable DACs”; that is quoted review language, not a comparative test of these six offers.
For PC, console or desk audio
The Fosi Audio K5 Pro is explicitly a desktop DAC and headphone amplifier, aimed primarily at gaming, streaming, and PC or console audio. It is not the pocketable choice for commuting. TechRadar gives two region- and retailer-specific references: under £65 from £80 in prose and $63.99 from $79.99 on its Amazon product card.

- Confirm the offer on your local store page. The roundup was published on 6 October 2026; prices, stock and sale status can change, and the list combines UK and US retailer references.
- Compare like with like. The HB1’s UK prose price and B&H Photo card price, and the K5 Pro’s UK prose price and Amazon card price, refer to different retailers or regions. Do not treat them as interchangeable quotes.
- Verify the connection you need. The article names USB-C, Lightning and Bluetooth for the HB1 only. Check each product’s current listing for your source device, headphones and required connections.
