A $5,000 investment in Broadcom could be worth about $4,050 to $7,200 after two years under illustrative annualized-return scenarios ranging from −10% to +20%. At a 0% return, it would remain $5,000. These are examples of how returns compound—not price predictions or a promise of gain. Your result depends on the share price when you invest, what happens to Broadcom shares, dividends, timing, taxes and fees.
What $5,000 could become by 2028
Using an approximate two-year period from October 7, 2026, to a comparable date in 2028, the calculation is: $5,000 × (1 + annualized return)2. The annualized returns below are scenario inputs selected to show how sensitive the result is to performance. They are not sourced forecasts or estimates of what Broadcom is likely to return.

| Illustrative annualized total return | Approximate value after two years | Change from $5,000 |
|---|---|---|
| −10% | $4,050 | −$950 |
| 0% | $5,000 | $0 |
| +10% | $6,050 | +$1,050 |
| +20% | $7,200 | +$2,200 |
The figures assume annual compounding over exactly two years and exclude taxes, fees and dividends. Actual holding periods may not align with two full years, and an investment’s total return will depend on the path of the share price and any dividends received.
Why a precise 2028 figure is not established
A dollar outcome requires both an entry price and a future share price. The available Broadcom investor page says stock data is at least 15 minutes delayed and attributed to LSEG, but it did not expose a usable quote. No verified AVGO price for October 7, 2026, share-count calculation, independently sourced 2028 target or analyst-consensus range is established here. Broadcom’s investor page is available at Broadcom Investor Center. Without a verified starting quote and defensible future target, scenario math is more transparent than presenting one 2028 value as a forecast.

The scenarios above also do not calculate how many shares $5,000 would buy. That number depends on the price and any transaction costs when an investor places an order. A share-price change alone is not the same as total return if dividends are included.
What Broadcom’s latest reported results say—and do not say
Broadcom reported third-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue of $29.591 billion for the quarter ended August 2, 2026, up 86% year over year. GAAP diluted earnings per share were $2.68 and non-GAAP diluted EPS were $3.32. The company reported $14.2 billion in cash from operations and $13.7 billion in free cash flow. These are company-reported results, not measures of a future stock return. See Broadcom’s September 2, 2026, third-quarter results release.

AI semiconductor demand is a major growth driver
AI semiconductor revenue was $16.7 billion in Q3 FY2026, up 221% year over year and 54% quarter over quarter. CEO Hock Tan said demand for custom AI accelerators and networking continued to be very strong. Broadcom guided to approximately $21.7 billion in AI semiconductor revenue in Q4 FY2026. This is management guidance, not a guarantee that demand or growth will persist through 2028.
Broadcom combines semiconductors and infrastructure software
The latest reported revenue mix was 70% semiconductor solutions and 30% infrastructure software. Broadcom attributed semiconductor growth primarily to custom AI accelerators and AI networking; it attributed software growth primarily to VMware Cloud Foundation demand and certain non-terminable contracts. The mix means that an investment case is not solely a bet on AI chips, but neither does the reported mix establish how either segment will perform in future years. The company’s quarterly filing provides the segment and customer details at the SEC filing for the quarter ended August 2, 2026.

Management’s next-quarter outlook is not a 2028 forecast
For Q4 FY2026, Broadcom guided to approximately $34.8 billion in revenue and non-GAAP operating income of approximately 66% of projected revenue. CFO Amie Thuener described the revenue outlook as 93% year-over-year growth and said the company expected a 66% non-GAAP operating margin, flat from a year earlier. Those are management’s near-term expectations, published September 2, 2026; the release cautions that actual results may vary materially from guidance. Quarterly guidance cannot be treated as a reliable share-price target for 2028.
What could move the outcome away from the scenarios
Customer concentration and semiconductor cycles
Broadcom disclosed that one semiconductor solutions customer, which is a distributor, accounted for 50% of Q3 FY2026 net revenue and 46% of revenue for the first three fiscal quarters. Its top five end customers represented approximately 55% of quarterly revenue, and the company expects significant customer concentration to continue. Changes in a major customer’s orders or order timing could therefore matter substantially. Broadcom also identifies semiconductor cyclicality as a risk.

Supply, competition and execution
The company lists reliance on contract manufacturing and limited suppliers, trade restrictions and competition among its risks. These factors can affect its ability to make and deliver products or sustain demand. In software, execution and adoption of offerings—including VMware Cloud Foundation—are relevant uncertainties. Debt service and integration or acquisition-related uncertainties are additional risks identified by Broadcom; none can be translated into a specific share-price effect from the information available.

Broadcom reported GAAP diluted EPS of $2.68 for Q3 FY2026, while its Q4 operating-income guidance uses a non-GAAP measure. GAAP and non-GAAP figures are not interchangeable. A non-GAAP outlook should not be read as a promise of equivalent GAAP profit, cash flow or shareholder return.

Dividends are separate from the scenario calculation
Broadcom’s Q3 FY2026 release declared a $0.65-per-share quarterly dividend payable September 30, 2026, to shareholders of record September 21, 2026. The two-year scenario table excludes dividends and does not assume that this dividend rate continues through 2028. The amount an investor might receive would depend on shares held, eligibility dates and future dividend declarations.
Quick Recap
How to use the estimates
- Treat the table as a sensitivity check: it shows how a hypothetical annualized return changes the value of $5,000 over two years.
- Do not treat any row as a probability-weighted outcome, company target or recommendation to buy or sell AVGO.
- For an investment decision, account for the actual purchase price, holding period, dividends, transaction fees and taxes that apply to your situation.
