Google lists media playback among the uses for its smart speakers and displays, and its help topics include YouTube TV. A speaker suits listening; a display can add visual information. Check that the specific service and device you plan to use are supported before relying on them.

Google describes speakers and displays as tools for managing tasks and planning the day. The exact services and capabilities can depend on the device and region, so verify support for any particular calendar or other service rather than assuming it works everywhere.

4. Control supported smart-home devices by voice
Google Nest can control compatible connected home devices through voice commands. Compatibility is not universal: check whether your particular light, plug, thermostat, or other device works with Google Home, then follow the setup steps in the Google Home app. For audio across multiple speakers, create a speaker group in the app first.
5. Automate actions with routines
Routines can combine actions and may start with a spoken command or a supported trigger. For example, Google describes a routine that turns on a connected porch light and sets a thermostat to 75°F at sunset. That is an example, not a default setting; it requires compatible devices and suitable routine support.

Routine features vary by device type. Some require an appropriate speaker, display, or smart clock, so check the requirements for the routine you want to create.
