Start by matching the TV to the patio’s sun exposure
Judge the screen’s exposure during the brightest part of the day. A roof or awning can help shelter a set, but does not turn a direct-sun location into a shade installation. Manufacturers classify their outdoor TVs for different conditions, so do not assume every outdoor model can tolerate the same sunlight.

2. Furrion Aurora Full-Shade — full shade
Furrion identifies a full-shade version of Aurora for shaded outdoor locations. The Aurora family page reports IP54 weather protection and lists compatible accessories, including outdoor audio, mounts and covers. Confirm that the particular SKU is the full-shade model and that any accessory fits it. IP54 and IP55 are different published ratings; neither means a TV can be submerged. 3. Samsung The Terrace Partial Sun — partial sun
Samsung’s current US product page distinguishes Partial Sun from Full Sun Terrace models. It lists Partial Sun sizes of 55, 65, 75 and 85 inches. Samsung’s separate support guidance says The Terrace is designed for partial shade and advises avoiding direct sunlight; because the product pages have different scopes, check the exact model’s manual rather than applying one statement to every Terrace. SunBrite describes Solis as designed for full-sun spaces. Its current family information lists 1,500 nits brightness and IP55 for the series. Treat those as manufacturer claims, not a direct brightness comparison with another brand’s figures; confirm the exact current model and datasheet before choosing it. 5. Samsung The Terrace Full Sun — full sun
Samsung’s current US page lists Full Sun Terrace models in 65-, 75- and 85-inch sizes. Samsung also reports IP55 for The Terrace and cautions that the TV, remote and power cord must not be submerged. The support page gives model-specific shade and heat guidance, while the product-family page distinguishes Full Sun and Partial Sun lines; check the exact SKU’s instructions and limits before installation. What to compare before choosing
Exposure category and brightness
Use the stated sun category as the first filter. Brightness figures can help explain a manufacturer’s design, but they are not comparable as if all brands measured them under identical conditions. For context, Samsung’s June 16, 2021 announcement about UL outdoor visibility verification reported criteria of more than 3,000–4,000 nits peak brightness, more than 1,000:1 contrast and color volume greater than 80% together under over 10,000 lux. Weather protection and operating conditions
Read the exact model’s rating and installation instructions. An IP rating describes specified ingress protection; it is not a promise that a television is waterproof in every circumstance. Samsung’s cited support page says The Terrace is IP55 rated and must not be submerged. Furrion reports IP54 for Aurora. Do not treat those ratings as interchangeable or infer more protection than the manufacturer states.

Samsung’s support guidance for the Terrace model covered there says it is heat resistant up to 122°F, warns about direct sunlight and panel temperature, and recommends shelter such as a roof or awning. The product family also notes that brightness may decrease to protect the panel at high temperatures or in sunlight. Use the exact model manual for operating limits; do not generalize a figure or caveat across every outdoor TV.
Fit, mounting and accessories
Check the current regional size, weight, VESA pattern, electrical requirements and mount compatibility for the exact SKU. SunBrite’s Veranda 4 datasheet provides size-specific VESA patterns, rather than one pattern for the entire range. A cover or dust cover can help protect a correctly placed set, but it cannot replace choosing the right exposure category or following the installation instructions.
