5 Monitors for Work: Picks for Different Desks and Workflows

Five work-monitor candidates for different needs, from a broad office recommendation to USB-C-focused and connectivity-heavy options.

There is no single best work monitor for every desk. The ASUS ProArt Display 6K PA32QCV is the strongest broad work pick in the available independent guide, while the Dell U2725QE is a USB-C-focused choice. The other options below suit different connectivity needs and budgets; treat them as candidates, not a head-to-head ranking.

Five monitors to consider for work

These picks come from different recommendation guides and a manufacturer catalogue, not a shared test. Confirm the exact model, regional specifications, current price, and stock before buying.

1. ASUS ProArt Display 6K PA32QCV: broad work use

RTINGS names the PA32QCV its best tested monitor for home office and work. Its guide also points to KVM as useful for people switching between work and personal laptops. That makes this a strong general-work candidate if the premium workspace and multi-computer use fit your needs; the recommendation does not establish that it is best for every budget or desk. RTINGS’ business-office monitor guide.

2. Dell U2725QE: USB-C-focused setup

RTINGS names the U2725QE its best tested USB-C monitor. It describes the text as sharp and the display as bright enough to help in glare-prone settings, while noting a pink tint in reflections in very bright rooms. Before relying on one cable for your laptop, confirm that the laptop supports video over USB-C and that the monitor’s charging output meets its power needs. RTINGS’ USB-C monitor guide.

3. ASUS ProArt Display PA279CRV: another 27-inch USB-C option

RTINGS lists the PA279CRV as an alternative to the Dell U2725QE and describes it as useful for productivity with sharp text. The guide does not establish a current price or show that it is the best budget choice in every market, so compare local pricing and the exact specification before choosing it. RTINGS’ USB-C monitor guide.

4. ASUS ProArt PA278CFRV: connectivity for a home office

PCWorld includes the PA278CFRV as an option for general productivity or content creation. Its listed connections include USB-C with DisplayPort Alternate Mode and 96W Power Delivery, two DisplayPort 1.4 ports (one with daisy-chain output), two HDMI 2.0 ports, three USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and a 3.5 mm audio output. Check the regional model’s specifications and your laptop’s requirements before assuming the USB-C connection will deliver both video and sufficient charging. PCWorld’s home-office monitor guide.

5. Dell U2724D or Dell Pro 27 Plus P2725QE: catalogue alternatives

Dell’s US professional catalogue lists both models as work-oriented products. When the catalogue result was crawled, it showed US prices of $439.99 for the U2724D and $539.99 for the P2725QE. Those are time-sensitive catalogue values, not guaranteed current prices. Dell identifies the P2725QE as a 4K USB-C hub monitor by name; check its detailed specifications and local availability before comparing its features with the other picks. How to choose for your work setup

Match screen size and resolution to your desk

Consider how far you sit from the display, how much desk space you have, and how you prefer text and apps to appear. The recommendations here span different sizes and resolutions, but the available information does not provide a complete, comparable specification set for all five candidates. Check the exact model details rather than assuming the options are directly equivalent.

  • Clear visuals. Fluid motion: A 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms MPRT deliver smooth, tear‑free motion across work, gaming, and streaming for clearer, more fluid viewing.
  • Eye comfort: TÜV Rheinland 3‑star* certification reduces harmful blue light while preserving stunning color quality without compromise. *TÜV Rheinland 3-star eye comfort certification.
  • Wide viewing angle: Get consistent views across a wide 178° /178° viewing angle.
  • In-Plane Switching (IPS): See excellent color accuracy and consistency across wide viewing angles with In-plane Switching (IPS) technology.
  • Ultra-thin bezels: Maximize your viewing experience with thin bezels.

Check USB-C video and charging together

A single-cable laptop setup works only when the laptop supports video output over USB-C and the monitor supplies enough power for that computer. The PA278CFRV guide reports 96W Power Delivery, but whether that is suitable depends on the laptop and the exact regional monitor version.

Choose a hub or KVM only if it solves a desk problem

A built-in USB hub can reduce cable clutter. KVM is most useful when you regularly switch one monitor, keyboard, and mouse between two computers; it is a convenience rather than a requirement for every work setup. RTINGS specifically identifies multi-computer switching as a use for KVM in its PA32QCV recommendation.
