There is no single keyboard that makes everyone more productive. The right choice depends on whether you need a numpad, prefer low-profile or mechanical keys, want a split layout, and how you connect your devices. These five options are organized by use case, synthesizing RTINGS’ office-keyboard recommendations last confirmed on July 28, 2026; they are not presented as hands-on test results.
How to choose a keyboard for work
Start with the way you work rather than a promise of higher productivity. A full-size layout keeps a numpad close for frequent data entry, while a compact board frees desk space if you rarely use one. Scissor switches tend to provide a familiar, low-profile feel; mechanical switches offer different switch types and key travel. Also check connection methods, device pairing, noise expectations, and the layout and operating-system version sold in your region.

1. Logitech MX Keys S — best general office pick
RTINGS recommends the full-size, wireless MX Keys S for most office users, particularly those accustomed to laptop typing. Its scissor switches, low-profile keys, and shallow keycap indent are intended to give it a familiar feel. It connects over Bluetooth or with Logitech’s Bolt receiver. Choose it if you want a conventional full-size layout and a low-profile typing experience; check that the receiver or Bluetooth option fits your devices.

2. Keychron K5 Max — best low-profile mechanical option
RTINGS positions the full-size K5 Max as a mid-range office keyboard. It combines a low-profile layout with mechanical switches available in linear or tactile options. You can use it wired, pair it over Bluetooth with up to three devices, or connect with its 2.4 GHz receiver. Choose according to the switch feel and key travel you prefer. One practical detail: the stock legends do not shine through, so consider your workspace lighting if illuminated legends matter to you.
3. Logitech ERGO K860 — best split-layout option
The ERGO K860 has a curved split keyframe and sloping form. Logitech describes it as “a split ergonomic keyboard designed for better posture, less strain, and more support”; that is the manufacturer’s product-page wording, not an independent medical finding. RTINGS notes that the layout may take time to adapt to and that the wrist rest is fixed. Consider it if you specifically want a split shape, but do not treat it as a guaranteed way to prevent or treat pain.

- Simply Wireless: Forget about drop-outs and delays thanks to a strong, reliable wireless connection with up to 33 ft range (5); K270 is compatible with Windows 7, 8, 10 or later
4. AULA F99 — best budget mechanical option
RTINGS names the AULA F99 as its budget office pick, describing it as well-built for its price while noting that it does not match the Keychron’s build quality. If you are considering it, verify that you have found the exact F99 model and that it is available in your region. Current pricing and stock were not established in the category guide.
5. Logitech MX Keys Mini — best compact alternative
RTINGS points to the MX Keys Mini for people who do not need a numpad. Its smaller footprint can suit a desk where space matters, but it is not the right fit if your work depends on frequent numeric entry. Confirm the exact keyboard layout and operating-system variant offered in your market before ordering.
