These five ideas range from community-reported cleaning and scraping to cautious, capability-based tasks. The community examples are anecdotes, not Milwaukee recommendations.
1. Scrub shower tile with a drill brush
A Milwaukee Tool community participant described using a drill with a scrub-brush attachment to clean shower tile. That is an anecdotal example, not manufacturer guidance. Read the community discussion.

Use a brush compatible with your drill, start at low speed, and test a small, inconspicuous spot. Tile, grout, and nearby finishes can respond differently to abrasion, and a rotating brush can damage a surface if pressed too hard. Keep water away from the drill’s electrical components and observe the moisture limits in the instructions for your exact model. A drill is not a wet-location cleaning tool simply because the brush is used in a shower.
2. Cut cardboard with an oscillating multi-tool
People in a Milwaukee community thread report using a knife blade on an oscillating multi-tool to cut cardboard. This may be useful for a controlled cut, but blade design and material matter; the anecdote does not establish that every knife blade or multi-tool is appropriate. See the community discussion.
#1 Best Overall
Choose a blade intended for the material, secure the cardboard so it cannot shift, and keep hands clear of the cutting path. Follow the instructions for both the tool and blade, and do not force the cut. For a small or delicate package, a hand cutter may offer better control.
3. Scrape caulk, adhesive, or stickers with a multi-tool
In the same community discussion, users mention fitting a scraper blade to remove caulk, adhesive, grease, and stickers. These are user-reported applications, not a guarantee that a scraper is safe on every surface. A scraper that works on a durable surface may gouge paint, soften plastics, or damage a finish.

- RECESSED FORWARD - BACKWARD SWITCH on the back of the head prevents you from accidental actuations in the middle of an important job
- LOW PROFILE HEAD DESIGN allows you to work in an engine bay without issue
- ONBOARD FUEL GAUGE: Lights on the side of the unit will let you know how much power you have left
- LED LIGHTING on the front of the unit allows you to see your job in dimly lit conditions
- REDLINK INTELLIGENCE: A smart chip in this unit allows it to communicate with the M12 battery plugged into it. This prevents it from receiving too much power and overheating, saving it from unnecessary damage
Match the scraper blade to the material and task, secure the work where practical, and try a discreet test area first. Use a controlled angle and light pressure; if the material or surface is uncertain, stop and check the blade and tool guidance rather than increasing force.

A multi-tool’s compact, oscillating blade can be useful for detail work where a larger saw is awkward, such as a careful trim or repair cut. Milwaukee describes its M18 Cordless Multi-Tool, model 2626-20, as intended for challenging jobsite applications and lists remodelers, flooring contractors, maintenance repair technicians, and electricians among its ideal users. That supports the tool’s general versatility, not any particular improvised cut. Milwaukee’s product page.

- COMPLETE KIT: Includes hammer drill, impact driver, circular saw, angle grinder, reciprocating saw, multi-tool, work light, and 3 batteries with charger in 2 tool bags
- POWER SYSTEM: Features M18 18-volt lithium-ion battery platform, providing consistent performance and extended runtime across all tools
- BATTERY PACKAGE: Comes with two high-capacity batteries and one compact battery, plus a rapid charger for minimal downtime
- STORAGE SOLUTION: Two heavy-duty contractor bags included for organized storage and easy transport of all tools and accessories
- VERSATILE APPLICATIONS: Perfect for drilling, driving, cutting, grinding, and demolition tasks in construction, remodeling, and maintenance work
Use a blade suited to the material, check the cutting path for hidden services, and secure the work. The right blade and a controlled approach matter more than the Milwaukee name; confirm the accessory fits your model and follow its operating instructions.
5. Fasten delicate materials with an impact driver’s lower-output control
When a job calls for an impact driver but the fastener or material is easy to damage, use the tool’s available drive-control settings and trigger carefully rather than applying full output immediately. Milwaukee describes four drive-control modes and trigger control on its M18 FUEL 1/4-inch Hex Impact Driver with ONE-KEY, model 2957-20, as features intended to help prevent stripped screws and material damage. They can help with control; they do not eliminate the risk. Milwaukee’s product information.

- POWERSTATE Brushless Motor: Increased cutting speed and power throught the toughtest applications
- REDLINK Plus Intelligence: The most advanced system of cordless power tool electronics; provides optimized performance and overload protection using total sysem communication between tool, battery and charger
- REDLITHIUM battery technology: Superior pack construction, electronics and performance deliver more work per charge and more work over pack life than any battery on the market
- 1-Handed design provides superior control and versatitily over standard reciprocating saws
- 7/8 in. stroke length removes more material with each stroke resulting in the faster cuts
Start with a low-output setting and practice on a spare fastener and material if possible. Milwaukee’s impact-driver manual advises checking for hidden pipes and wires before drilling or driving screws, warns against excessive impacting, and recommends practicing on fasteners and checking tightness with a hand-torque wrench. Follow the manual for your exact model and task. Read the impact-driver manual.

Before trying a workaround, check four things:
- Tool and attachment fit: Verify that the brush or blade is compatible with your specific model and interface.
- Material suitability: Select an accessory intended for the surface or material, and test discreetly when damage is possible.
- Control: Use a controllable speed or setting, secure the work, and avoid forcing the tool.
- Safety limits: Check the tool and accessory instructions, especially for moisture, cutting paths, and impact use.
A community post can suggest an idea, but it cannot establish compatibility or safety for your particular tool, accessory, and workpiece.
