The clearest choice for listening away from an outlet is the battery-capable PR-D4BT; the other four are specified for adapter or AC power and are better suited to tabletop use. This is a specification-based shortlist, not a side-by-side sound or reception test, so wattage and feature lists should not be read as a ranking.
Which Bluetooth radios actually include both AM and FM?
Check the bands listed for the exact model rather than relying on the word “radio.” All five Sangean models below are confirmed by their manufacturer specifications to support AM, FM and Bluetooth. A product that supports FM and Bluetooth is not automatically an AM/FM radio: for example, the JBL Tuner FM specification sheet lists FM but does not list AM.

How the five models differ
| Model | Documented features | Best fit by feature set |
|---|---|---|
| Sangean PR-D4BT | AM/FM, Bluetooth, station presets, 3-inch speaker; 0.8W output on external power and 0.7W on batteries; four D batteries or DC adapter. Dimensions: 237 × 148 × 63 mm; weight: 1.01 kg. | The only model here whose cited specifications clearly document battery operation. It is the practical pick for listening away from an outlet, with the weight and four-D-battery format to account for. |
| Sangean CP-100 | AM/FM, Bluetooth 5.0, AUX input, 2-inch speaker; 4W output for AM/FM and 4.5W for Bluetooth/AUX; adapter power. | A compact, retro-styled, outlet-oriented option with a wired input. |
| Sangean WR-50 | AM/FM, Bluetooth, RDS/RBDS, presets, AUX, 3-inch speaker, 6W output, bass and treble controls, subwoofer output, power adapter and remote. | A tabletop radio with more listed controls and connections. Its manufacturer describes reception positively; that is not independent reception testing. |
| Sangean WR-15BT | AM/FM, Bluetooth, AUX, 3-inch speaker, 6.5W output and DC adapter; optional external AM antenna support and an FM antenna jack. | A wooden-cabinet tabletop model with analog-style tuning controls and specified antenna connections. |
| Sangean WR-22 | AM/FM-RDS, Bluetooth, USB playback, presets, AUX, 3-inch speaker, 7W output, remote and AC/DC-in specification; FM and AM antenna connections are listed. | A tabletop digital radio for someone who also wants USB playback and a remote. |
The wattage figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent sound-quality scores. They are also not a clean apples-to-apples comparison: the PR-D4BT lists separate output for external and battery power, while the CP-100 separates radio output from Bluetooth/AUX output. These figures alone do not establish which radio sounds best or plays loudest.

For listening away from an outlet
The PR-D4BT is the battery-capable option in this shortlist. Its published specification names four D batteries and gives a lower output rating on battery power than on external power. Consider the physical format and battery supply as part of portability, rather than assuming it is a lightweight pocket speaker.

Presets, RDS/RBDS and antenna connections can help you decide how a radio fits your station-listening habits, but a specification page cannot tell you how reliably it will receive a particular station in your home or travel location. Local signal strength, interference and antenna placement matter. The WR-15BT specifies optional external AM antenna support and an FM antenna jack; the WR-22 lists AM and FM antenna connections; and the WR-50 lists an AM antenna.

What a feature comparison cannot tell you
These specifications identify supported bands, power arrangements, inputs and controls; they do not settle sound clarity, distortion, real-world battery life or reception quality. An independent review by EL PAÍS Escaparate, published February 8, 2025 and updated August 10, 2026, describes evaluation criteria including design and materials, sound clarity or distortion, FM reception and interference, user experience, battery life, hands-free calling, and AUX/USB connectivity. Its named test examples are FM-focused speakers, not a side-by-side test of these five AM/FM Sangean models.
For these candidates, the useful decision is therefore feature-led: choose battery operation if you need to be away from a socket; choose among the tabletop models by the inputs, antenna connections, tuning features and controls you will use. To judge actual reception or sound, seek testing of the exact model in conditions relevant to your location and use.
