Android Auto now supports games, but they’re for time spent safely parked—not for passengers to play on a moving display. Google says game support requires a phone running Android 15 or higher, and its current Google Play collection includes the five options below. Check each game’s Play listing on the phone you’ll use before you leave; availability and compatibility can vary by device, account, and region.
First, know when Android Auto games work
Google says games are “parked apps” and are blocked while the vehicle is moving or when driving-related UX restrictions apply. The Android Developers Blog put it plainly on September 21, 2026: “Certain types of apps, like games, are considered parked apps and aren’t permitted to run while the vehicle is in motion to avoid driver distraction.” Do not try to play while driving; use games only when the vehicle is safely parked.

Google announced on September 21, 2026, that the Games category for Android Auto and cars with Android Automotive OS had graduated from beta to general availability. The Android for Cars change log dates the general-availability update to September 14, 2026. That means developers can publish games to open-testing and production tracks; it is not a guarantee that a particular game will appear for every phone, account, region, or car.
Android Auto games run through the connected phone and a compatible car display; “install in your car” is convenient shorthand, not a separate installation on the vehicle. Google’s developer guidance specifies Android 15 or higher for Android Auto game support. Check the individual Play Store listing from the intended phone before the trip.

Five games to consider for parked breaks
These are a mix of styles, not a tested ranking. Google’s live Games on Android Auto collection is the current place to confirm listed titles; its catalog and ratings may change. Google also named the first four below among popular Android Auto games in May 2025. The sources establish listings and categories, not comparative gameplay quality or availability on a specific car.
1. Beach Buggy Racing 2 — racing
Choose this if you want a racing-style option for a parked break. Google named it among popular Android Auto games in May 2025. Confirm that its Play listing shows support for your setup and check which input methods it accepts.

Another match/puzzle option, Candy Crush Soda Saga was also among the games Google highlighted in May 2025. Check the listing for your account and device rather than assuming it will be available in every region.
5. My Talking Tom Friends — casual play
My Talking Tom Friends appears in Google Play’s current Android Auto games collection. It gives this shortlist a casual option alongside the racing and puzzle titles. Its inclusion is not a claim that it outranks other games in the collection.

How to choose and get ready before leaving
- Check the phone. Make sure the phone you plan to connect runs Android 15 or higher.
- Open Google Play on that phone. Search for the game or open Google’s Games on Android Auto collection. Confirm the title is available to your account and inspect its listing for car support.
- Check input options. Google says car screens support touch. A game may also support a connected gamepad, but controller input is optional and is not established for every title; verify support on the game’s listing before buying or packing a controller.
- Connect and test while parked. Before the trip, connect the phone to your car and confirm the game appears and responds as expected while the vehicle is safely parked. The available platform guidance does not establish compatibility with every vehicle.
What Google’s vehicle figure does—and does not—mean
In a May 2025 announcement, Google said Android Auto was supported in nearly all new cars sold and cited almost 250 million compatible vehicles on the road. That is a dated compatible-vehicle estimate, not a count of active players, current vehicles, or cars able to run any particular game.
