Four kinds of gadget can run a lighting task without Wi-Fi or a phone app: a mechanical 24-hour plug-in timer, an astronomical wall timer, a remote-controlled outlet, and a motion-triggered plug-in light. The first three have manufacturer or seller material stating that they need neither. The fourth is a product category rather than a single confirmed model, and that difference matters when you buy.
Three things “no internet, no Wi-Fi, no app” can mean
These phrases are often used interchangeably, but they describe different conditions. A device can meet one and fail another.

- No internet: The device works without an internet connection. Home Assistant’s FAQ says devices on local protocols, including Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter, Thread, and ESPHome, can operate this way. Those devices may still need a local hub or controller, an app, or a home network.
- No Wi-Fi: The device uses a different radio. Philips Hue’s smart plug uses Bluetooth and Zigbee, but it is still described as app- or voice-controlled. Dropping Wi-Fi does not remove the app.
- No app: The device is operated with physical controls such as a dial, pushpins, a wall switch, or a handheld remote. This is the strictest condition, and it is the one the four gadgets below are chosen to meet.
The four gadgets
1. GE/Jasco 24-hour indoor mechanical timer
This is the simplest option. It plugs into a wall outlet, and you plug a lamp, fan, or seasonal light into it. Pushpins set on and off times at 30-minute intervals across a 24-hour cycle, so the schedule repeats every day. A manual override lets you switch the load on or off without changing the pins. The manufacturer describes the timer as operating without Wi-Fi or apps.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe limits are equally clear. You cannot change the schedule from another room, and there is no sunrise or sunset logic. Check the rated load printed on the timer before connecting a heavier appliance, and use it indoors only, as the product is described.

- CONVENIENT TO USE: Battery-powered and portable – use your smart remote from anywhere in your house to easily interact with your smart home without using your voice
- WORKS WITH ECHO: Easily connect your smart remote using you Echo device as your smart hub and enjoy using your smart remote
- SIMPLE SETUP: Start enjoying your smart remote in minutes; Simply remove the battery tag and follow the guided installation steps in the Alexa app to set up the device
2. Deako Simple Astronomical Timer Switch
This is a wall switch rather than a plug-in device. It schedules lights either at ordinary clock times or at calculated sunrise and sunset, so the lights follow the day’s light without you adjusting the schedule. The product page states: “This automation doesn’t need Wi-Fi or a mobile app.”
Installation is the main decision point. The product page specifies use with lights controlled by one single-pole switch, which is a standard single switch controlling one light point. If your circuit is controlled from two or more locations, the listing does not describe that setup. If you are not confident about replacing a switch, have a licensed electrician do the work.

3. LoraTap outlet with dedicated RF remote and dimmable night light
This outlet is switched by a handheld radio-frequency remote that comes with it. The seller states that Wi-Fi is not needed, and the remote gives you local switching without a phone. The night light is integrated and dimmable.
This option does not run its own schedule. It responds to the remote, which means it depends on the remote and receiver working together. Because this detail comes from the seller’s listing rather than manufacturer documentation, confirm the model number, the electrical rating, and the plug format for your country before you buy.

4. Motion-triggered plug-in light (category, not a confirmed model)
Motion-sensing plug-in lights fit the title’s requirements in principle, but no current model has been confirmed here as meeting all three conditions. A 2020 assistive-technology fact sheet from ECCOG lists “The Clapper, Remote Plugs, & Sensor Lights (No WIFI needed)” as examples, without naming a current model. A retailer listing for the Sylvania SA-135 describes a plug-in timer with motion sensing, manually controlled output, and battery-backed memory, but it does not say whether the device needs Wi-Fi or an app.
If you want motion response, look for a manufacturer statement that the device needs no app or Wi-Fi, and read the manual before purchase. Battery-backed memory, if present, keeps the programmed settings through a power interruption, but it does not establish that the device is app-free.

Choosing by task
- A lamp or fan that should run at the same times each day: the mechanical plug-in timer is the simplest fit, with no wiring or setup beyond the pins.
- Lights that should follow sunset and sunrise: the astronomical wall timer, if your lighting is on a single-pole switch you are comfortable replacing.
- A lamp you want to switch from across the room: the RF remote outlet, after you confirm the rating and plug format for your region.
- A light that should respond to movement: a motion-sensing plug-in light, but only after you confirm the manufacturer says it needs no app or Wi-Fi.
Before buying any of these, check the electrical rating on the label, the plug format for your country, and whether the device is rated for indoor use.

None of these gadgets learns from your habits, reports status to a phone, or changes behavior based on data. Their intelligence is fixed at the moment you set them, whether that is a pushpin pattern, a sunrise calculation, or a remote button. That is why they suit simple, repeating tasks and do not suit situations that need remote changes or monitoring.

If you later need remote control, a local-protocol system such as Zigbee or Matter may be the next step. Those systems can work without internet service, but they usually still need a hub or app for setup and control, so they do not meet the stricter condition in this article’s title.
