To test your PC’s performance, choose a benchmark that matches what you want to know: PCMark 10 for everyday productivity, 3DMark for gaming and graphics, and Cinebench for CPU rendering. Then repeat the relevant test under consistent conditions to see whether the result is stable. A score only means something alongside the benchmark and version that produced it.
Choose a benchmark for the question you have
Benchmarks exercise different parts of a PC. An office-focused whole-system score does not tell you how a graphics card performs in a game, and a CPU rendering score is not a general measure of every task. Pick the test that resembles the workload you care about, and compare results only when the test and version match.
| Benchmark | Best suited to | What it tests | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| PCMark 10 | Everyday office and workplace use | Complete-system performance across workplace activities | Its Applications benchmark requires Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Office 2013 or later, according to the PCMark 10 user guide. |
| 3DMark | Gaming and graphics performance | Graphics tests, plus separately available CPU and storage tests | Choose a test that fits the PC and graphics API; scores from different tests are not interchangeable. |
| Cinebench | CPU performance in rendering workloads | Professional-style 3D rendering work | Cinebench 2026 uses a newly calibrated scale, so its scores cannot be compared with earlier versions. |
1. PCMark 10: check everyday productivity performance
PCMark 10 is the most relevant of these choices when you want a broad view of workplace tasks rather than a gaming score. UL says its tests reflect common tasks performed in the modern workplace and describe complete-system performance using real-world apps and activities. That makes it useful for assessing a general office workload, but not a substitute for a gaming-focused graphics benchmark.
The UL product page lists these minimum requirements for PCMark 10: a dual-core CPU, 4 GB of memory, DirectX 11 graphics, and 6 GB of free storage. Those are minimums, not a promise that every test will run well on a system that barely meets them. The Applications benchmark has additional software requirements: Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Office 2013 or later. Check the PCMark 10 product page and user guide for the edition and test details relevant to your run.

2. 3DMark: test gaming and graphics performance
3DMark includes different tests for different graphics workloads, so select one that fits your hardware and the graphics API you want to evaluate. For example, UL describes Steel Nomad as a demanding non-ray-tracing test. A result from one 3DMark test should not be treated as equivalent to a result from another.
The 3DMark Steam listing also describes GPU stress tests, CPU Profile, and a storage benchmark. These measure distinct things; use the corresponding test rather than interpreting a graphics score as a CPU or storage result. The listing gives these Windows minimums: Windows 10 64-bit, a 1.8 GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, and DirectX 11 graphics. Individual tests can have their own requirements. See the 3DMark product page and 3DMark Steam listing for current test and platform details.

3. Cinebench: assess CPU rendering performance
Cinebench is designed around real-world performance in common professional 3D workloads, making it useful when CPU rendering is the question—not as a universal score for gaming, office work, or the entire PC. Maxon’s methodology explains the benchmark’s workload, while its current page makes an especially important comparison caveat: Cinebench 2026 results use a newly calibrated scoring range and are not comparable with results from earlier versions. Record the exact Cinebench version whenever you save or share a score.

- The installation procedure is quick and does not require special input from the user. The interface of musikCube is clean and simple to navigate.
- You can add music to a library or collection from files, folders or Internet radio, and view the number, title, artist, album, genre, time and rating for all tracks, as well as select them by albums.
- Standard audio player functions include volume level adjustment, equalizer configuration, audio stream navigation using a slider, shuffle and repeat modes, as well as a cross-fade effect.
4. Repeat the same benchmark to check consistency
A single run is a snapshot, not a diagnosis. If you want to know whether a result repeats, use the same test and settings again and note both results. Microsoft’s Windows performance-lab procedure records the 3DMark result and waits 15 minutes before running it again. That is Microsoft’s documented procedure for its testing—not a universal waiting rule for every benchmark or PC.
When comparing two computers, keep the benchmark, version, test, and settings aligned. Record the hardware and operating conditions too, so differences are not mistaken for a simple measure of one component. Microsoft’s procedure is documented in its Windows performance lab testing methodology.

How to read a benchmark score
- Start with the workload. A PCMark 10 result describes workplace-oriented system performance; a 3DMark graphics result describes a selected graphics test; Cinebench focuses on rendering performance.
- Check the version and test name. Scores from different versions or test types may use different workloads or scoring scales. In particular, Cinebench 2026 is not directly comparable with earlier Cinebench versions.
- Compare like with like. Use the same benchmark version, test, and settings on both PCs. A result without that context is difficult to interpret.
- Do not treat one number as a fault diagnosis. The official pages cited here do not establish a universal “good PC score.” A low or inconsistent result needs context about the system configuration and operating conditions before it points to a cause.
