Four Galaxy S26 camera controls are worth knowing: Horizontal Lock for level video, Photo enhancer and Scene optimizer for processing choices, Motion photos for capturing the moments before a shutter press, and Shooting methods for easier shutter control. They are useful settings, not a Samsung-designated list of four new upgrades; which options appear can depend on camera mode and software.
1. Keep moving video level with Horizontal Lock
Horizontal Lock is a Video-mode option within Super steady. Samsung says it uses the phone’s gyroscope and accelerometer to stabilize framing and maintain a level horizon. It is aimed at footage recorded while moving, rather than still photos.

- Open Camera and switch to Video.
- Tap Super steady, then choose Horizontal lock.
- Record a short test clip and check that the framing suits your movement.
Samsung’s US support page says Horizontal Lock is unavailable with the front-facing camera, Pro Video, and Portrait Video. The company also describes the feature in its Galaxy S26 video stabilization announcement. Availability and labels can vary with mode.

In Camera settings, Photo enhancer offers a quality-versus-speed optimization choice in Photo mode. It lets you prioritize processing quality or a quicker capture workflow; Samsung’s documentation does not promise a particular visible improvement for every scene.

Scene optimizer can adjust aspects such as exposure, contrast, and white balance according to the scene. Samsung says it works with the rear camera only. It may be useful when you want the camera to adapt its processing, but the result depends on the subject and lighting rather than guaranteeing a better image.
Find both in Camera > Settings. The controls available can depend on the active camera mode. Samsung documents these functions in its Galaxy S26 camera features guide.
3. Save a little action before the photo
Motion photos capture a short clip of action immediately before you press the shutter. That can help when a subject is moving and the instant just before the still photo matters. Samsung lists Motion photos among Camera quick controls; availability depends on the mode you are using.

In Camera, look among the quick controls for Motion photos and turn it on when you want that brief lead-in captured. Because it records motion along with the photo, use it selectively when a still image alone is what you need.
4. Make the shutter easier to reach or trigger
Open Camera > Quick controls > Settings > Shooting methods to find alternate shutter controls. Samsung lists volume-button behavior, voice commands, a Floating Shutter button, and Show palm for selfies.
- Floating Shutter button: adds a shutter control that you can position on the screen.
- Show palm: triggers a selfie when the camera recognizes your palm.
- Voice commands: let you capture using a spoken command.
- Volume buttons: can be assigned a camera action. If assigned to capture, they cannot adjust sound during video recording.
These options are helpful when reaching the on-screen shutter is awkward or when taking a selfie without touching the phone. Names and placement may differ by software version.

What about Night, Single Take, and Dual Rec?
Samsung Australia’s guide describes an additional, region-specific route: open Camera settings, select Camera Assistant, install it, then enable Night, Single Take, and Dual Rec before returning to Camera > MORE. This route is documented for Australian Galaxy variants, so check your local Galaxy Store, software version, and Samsung support instructions rather than assuming the same path applies everywhere. Samsung’s February 25, 2026 Galaxy S26 announcement highlights the camera system and enhanced Nightography Video, as well as Horizontal Lock; it does not present these controls as an official set of four upgrades. The settings described here rely on the phone’s documented camera features, not an added camera accessory.
