The best places to list an app depend on who you want to reach and what stage the product is at—not just a website’s authority score. Product Hunt is a launch community, G2 and Capterra focus on software reviews and buyer research, AlternativeTo helps people find replacements for familiar tools, and BetaList targets beta and early-access products. The 35 candidates below include those destinations alongside startup databases, niche catalogs, and technical communities. They are a shortlist to choose from, not a checklist to submit to in full.
How to choose the right app directories
Start with the audience and action you want from a listing. A directory can help a buyer compare software, a developer discover a tool, or an early adopter try a product. Those are different jobs, and a high authority estimate does not make every site suitable for every app.

- For a public launch: consider Product Hunt or a product-discovery community such as Uneed.
- For B2B software buyers: consider G2, Capterra, GetApp, Software Advice, or a relevant cloud-software catalog.
- For an alternative to an established product: consider AlternativeTo or SaaSHub, and describe the comparison accurately.
- For a beta or early-access release: BetaList is specifically positioned for early products.
- For AI or no-code products: use catalogs whose categories genuinely match the product.
- For developer tools: technical communities and developer-focused discovery sites may be more relevant than a general startup listing.
Before submitting, check whether a site accepts the product’s category and stage, what information or review evidence it requires, whether listing or promotion costs apply, and how long review or scheduling may take. Also ask what value the listing could have apart from a potential backlink: a relevant buyer or user is more useful than an impressive-looking score alone.
35 directories and communities to consider
The list mixes launch communities, review marketplaces, company profiles, and specialist catalogs. The authority figures are third-party estimates reported in 2026 roundups—not scores issued by the sites themselves. “DA/DR” below preserves StartupSubmit’s approximate labeling, which does not consistently distinguish the metric; DR is labeled as Ahrefs DR where TheSaaSDir reports it. Figures from different publishers and dates are not directly interchangeable.

What the authority figures do—and do not—tell you
Domain Authority (DA) and Domain Rating (DR) are separate third-party metrics, not a single standard score and not ratings published by the directories. The 2026 lists use inconsistent labels and estimates from different dates and sources. For example, Product Hunt is listed at approximately 91 DA/DR by StartupSubmit in July 2026 and approximately 90 DR by TheSaaSDir in early 2026; G2 is listed at approximately 89 DA/DR and approximately 91 DR, respectively. The gap is not evidence that one listing suddenly gained or lost authority: measurement tool, metric, and observation date can differ.
StartupSubmit describes its July 2026 figures as approximate and subject to fluctuation. TheSaaSDir describes its Ahrefs DR figures as estimates that can change and should be checked again. Treat them as rough context, not precise, current rankings. If a score affects your decision, verify it with the named metric provider and record the metric and date rather than comparing DA and DR as though they were the same.
Neither a high score nor a directory submission establishes a particular SEO improvement, number of visitors, or signup total. The reviewed sources do not establish an independently verified causal guarantee or general outcome rate for submissions. A listing may provide discovery or a relevant referral, but its value depends on audience fit and what happens after people arrive.

A practical submission workflow
1. Prepare a complete, accurate listing
Have the product name and URL, a concise tagline and description, logo, screenshots, category, and support or contact details ready. Adapt the copy to each site: explain the actual use case, stage, and audience instead of pasting an identical generic pitch into every form.
Rank #3
2. Choose a focused first batch
Select a handful of sites that match the intended user, product stage, and category. Check each site’s current submission rules, listing or promotion costs, review requirements, and timing before committing. A broad directory list is a planning resource, not a reason to submit indiscriminately.
3. Match the submission to the destination
Use launch communities when the product is ready for public attention; buyer-review platforms when the software serves those buyers and can earn credible customer reviews; alternatives listings when there is a clear comparison; and specialist catalogs only when the product belongs in the category. A company profile or community post may serve a different purpose from a conventional app listing.
4. Plan launch timing around readiness
Product Hunt’s official Launch Guide describes makers submitting products for the community to discover, upvote, comment on, and share, and says the platform is free to use. Treat it as a launch opportunity, not a promise of reach or success. The same readiness-first principle applies elsewhere: make sure the product page, demo, and support path work before asking a community to evaluate the app.
5. Measure qualified referrals
Use referral analytics to track visits and, where possible, qualified actions such as relevant signups. Compare results over a sensible period and account for each site’s audience and launch timing. This gives you a basis for deciding whether a listing earned continued attention; an authority estimate alone cannot answer that.

Which directories should you submit your app to?
Start with the destinations your intended users already consult. For a broad launch, that may mean Product Hunt; for B2B buying research, review marketplaces; for an early product, BetaList; and for AI, no-code, or developer tools, a relevant specialist site or community. Prioritize fit, prepare a tailored listing, and use referral results—not a DA or DR number by itself—to decide what to do next.
