These details help with compatibility checks, troubleshooting, driver installation, update verification, and support requests.
“Windows version” can mean several things: the edition (such as Home or Pro), the feature version (such as 22H2), and the OS build (such as 19045.x). System type—32-bit or 64-bit—is a separate architecture detail.

Method 1: Check Windows 10 in Settings
- Select Start.
- Open Settings.
- Select System, then About.
- Scroll to Windows specifications.
Microsoft documents this page and its fields at Windows version search. You will normally see:
- Edition
- Version
- Installed on
- OS build
A typical result might look like this:
Edition: Windows 10 Pro
Version: 22H2
OS build: 19045.XXXX
- Windows 10 Pro is the product edition.
- 22H2 is the feature-release identifier.
- 19045.XXXX is the detailed servicing build.
The same About page includes device specifications, including whether the operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. Labels and layout can vary with language, edition, organizational policy, and installed updates. If you cannot locate the page, search Settings for About your PC or use winver.

Method 2: Run winver
- Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type
winver. - Press Enter.
The About Windows dialog normally identifies Windows 10, the edition, feature version, and OS build. You can also type winver in the taskbar Search box and select the result, as described in Microsoft’s Windows Update Assistant documentation.
This is usually the fastest method when someone asks, “Which version of Windows 10 do I have?” It is also convenient when reading the result to technical support. The feature version and build complement each other: two PCs can both be on version 22H2 while having different build revisions because they received different cumulative updates.
Method 3: Use Command Prompt or PowerShell
Open Command Prompt or PowerShell and run:
systeminfo | findstr /B /C:"OS Name" /B /C:"OS Version"
Press Enter. Microsoft lists this command in its Windows version identification guidance. Output may resemble:

OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

The exact wording depends on the system language and edition. The 10.0.19045 value is build-oriented information; it does not by itself replace the user-facing feature version shown by Settings or winver.

ver is a Cmd.exe command, not a PowerShell equivalent. In PowerShell, $PSVersionTable reports PowerShell information rather than directly identifying the Windows release. See Microsoft’s ver reference.

How to read the result
| Field | Example | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Edition | Windows 10 Pro | The product edition and its feature set. |
| Feature version | 22H2 | The major Windows 10 release installed. |
| OS build | 19045.XXXX | The detailed servicing level, including cumulative-update revisions. |
| System type | 64-bit operating system | The operating-system architecture, useful for software compatibility. |
When reporting your system, provide all three version identifiers where possible—for example, Windows 10 Pro, version 22H2, OS build 19045.x. Activation status is separate: an activated copy is not necessarily current or fully patched.

systeminfo returns no filtered lines
The display language may translate “OS Name” and “OS Version,” or the output format may differ. Run unfiltered systeminfo and find the operating-system name and version manually.
You see a build but no feature version
Use Settings > System > About or winver. A string such as 10.0.19045 identifies the build family, not necessarily the feature-version label.

What your Windows 10 version means for support
For ordinary Windows 10 Home, Pro, Enterprise, and Education releases, version 22H2 is the final mainstream feature release. Microsoft ended mainstream Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. PCs continue to operate, but standard free security updates, feature updates, and technical support ended for those editions. See Microsoft’s Windows 10 support-end notice.
Eligible consumer devices may receive protection through the Windows 10 Consumer Extended Security Updates program until October 12, 2027; enrollment and eligibility conditions apply, and ESU should not be assumed to be free. Enterprise and specialized editions have separate terms.
If Settings or winver reports Enterprise LTSC, IoT Enterprise LTSC, or another specialized edition, do not apply the ordinary consumer deadline automatically. For example, Microsoft lists Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 support through January 9, 2029 in its lifecycle information: Windows 10 lifecycle details. Identify the exact edition before deciding whether to upgrade, enroll in ESU, or rely on its specialized support schedule.
