Apple Health offers two different ways to remove a medication from your active list: archive it to keep its details and dose history, or delete it to remove all information and history associated with it. If you only want to erase one mistaken dose log, Apple’s current consumer instructions do not document a separate deletion procedure for that event.
Choose archive or delete
| Option | What changes | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Archive | Removes the medication from the active list but keeps its details and log history. It appears under Archived Medications. | You have stopped taking it but want to retain its record. |
| Delete | Removes all information and history associated with that medication. | You intend to remove the medication entry and its associated history. |
These steps are Apple’s documented instructions for iPhone and iPad. Labels can vary with software updates, so follow the wording shown on your device. Some Health features are not available in every country or region.

Way 1: Archive the medication and keep its history
- Open the Health app.
- Tap Browse. On iPad, use the sidebar to open the category.
- Tap Medications, then scroll to Your Medications.
- Swipe left on the medication and tap Archive.
The medication moves to the Archived Medications list, while its details and log history remain available. If you later restore it to the active list, its previous schedule is not preserved, according to Apple’s current iPhone guide.

Way 2: Delete the medication and its history
- Open Health, tap Browse (or use the iPad sidebar), then tap Medications.
- Scroll to Your Medications and tap the medication you want to remove.
- Scroll to Options and tap Delete Medication.
- Confirm by tapping Delete Medication again.
Apple says this removes all information and history for that medication. Confirm only if that is what you intend.

Trying to remove one logged dose?
A medication entry and a dose event—such as a dose marked “Taken” or “Skipped”—are distinct data types in Apple’s HealthKit documentation. Apple’s current consumer instructions explain how to archive or delete a medication, but do not give a step-by-step method for deleting only one dose event. The available documentation therefore does not establish whether or how to remove one mistaken dose while keeping the medication entry; deleting the whole medication is not a verified solution for that narrower task.
How general Health-data deletion differs
Apple also documents a general route for removing manually entered records in Health categories. It is not a substitute for the medication-specific archive and delete controls above, and Apple’s instructions do not establish that it applies to individual medication dose events.

Apple documents a separate process for stopping Health data storage in iCloud and removing that data. That affects Health data more broadly; it is different from archiving or deleting a medication entry.
