That is the roundup’s count, not an independently audited total. Choose by the effect you need—such as watercolor washes, smoke, foliage, or ink—and check the individual download page’s license before using a pack commercially.
How to choose a brush set
Start with the result you want, then compare the pack’s stated brush count and resolution where available. Some packs are primarily texture or effect stamps; others are intended for marks such as calligraphic flourishes. A higher count alone does not establish that a pack is a better fit.

Free Watercolor Wash Photoshop Brushes
15 brushes. The set is described as hand-painted washes at 2500px or larger, making it the more directly relevant pick of these two when you want broad wash textures rather than splatters.
For a watercolor effect, Colorlib suggests trying low opacity and Multiply or Overlay blending. Treat these as starting points, not universal settings; the result depends on the image and the brush.

Adobe’s free brush packs are another option
If you would rather start with Adobe’s own packs, its Photoshop brush packs page describes options including Megapack, Dry Media, Gouache, Halftones, Manga, Spatter, and Watercolour. Adobe describes Megapack as containing over 300 tools and Halftones as containing over 100 pressure-sensitive tools; these figures refer to Adobe’s packs, not the Colorlib list, and the page does not state a publication date for them.
Adobe also describes certain brushes as responsive to stylus pressure or tilt. A compatible pressure-sensitive stylus is optional: it can affect how those brushes respond, but it is not required to download or import an ABR file.
Check the license before using a pack
“Free” does not by itself mean that a brush can be used without attribution or restrictions. Colorlib says the listed packs use either Brusheezy’s standard free license or Creative Commons terms. Its article summarizes the standard license as allowing personal and commercial use with credit to Brusheezy, and notes that the Creative Commons packs require artist credit. Those are the roundup’s descriptions, not a substitute for the current terms on a pack’s own download page.

- Open the individual pack’s download page and read its current license.
- Check whether the terms require credit, restrict adaptations, or require adapted work to use the same license.
- For commercial use, keep a record of the applicable terms and follow any attribution requirements.
Import an ABR brush file into Photoshop
Adobe documents these methods for loading ABR brush files. Interface labels can vary by Photoshop version; see Adobe’s import instructions for the current documented workflow.
- Download the brush pack and locate its ABR file. If the download is an archive, extract it first.
- Open Photoshop and open the Brushes panel.
- In the panel, choose Get More Brushes or Import Brushes, then select the ABR file.
- Alternatively, with Photoshop open, double-click the ABR file. Adobe says imported brushes appear in the Brushes panel.
Once imported, organize brush folders by style if that makes them easier to find. For smoke and fog, varying stamp size and rotation can help avoid a repeated pattern, as Colorlib suggests.
Other creator-specific options
Photoshop Lady’s 2026 brush-pack roundup names Kyle T. Webster, Greg Rutkowski, Aaron Griffin, Sinix Design, and Heather Rooney as recommendations. Its brief descriptions do not establish that every named creator’s pack is currently free or available under the same license.
Kyle T. Webster’s official biography says he designed more than 2,000 brushes for Adobe’s library, left Adobe in 2024, and became Procreate’s official brush-maker. His Pencil 3C listing identifies it as free, and the creator post says it works in apps that support ABR files. Those facts apply to that specific brush and do not establish that all of his brushes are free or share its terms.
