1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThere is no single best email marketing platform for every business, and the available evidence does not support calling all 17 tools independently tested. A more useful way to choose is to shortlist by the work you need done—standard campaigns, ecommerce journeys, advanced automation, CRM-led marketing, transactional email, or creator newsletters—then compare the exact plan and contact volume you expect to use.
What this comparison can—and cannot—tell you
The available 2026 comparisons cover overlapping selections rather than a uniform evaluation of 17 products. ActiveCampaign’s vendor-authored guide, published March 24, 2026, compares eight services and says its prices and features reflect March 2026. GetResponse’s vendor-authored guide, updated June 19, 2026, compares nine. Their recommendations are useful for understanding product positioning, but they are not independent verification of every feature or a common hands-on test of all 17.

Accordingly, the categories below are starting points for a shortlist, not a definitive ranking. A vendor’s description of its own product or a competitor’s limitations should be checked against the plan you are considering.

For newsletters and standard campaigns
ActiveCampaign’s comparison presents Mailchimp and Constant Contact as simpler choices for standard campaigns, while describing them as less suited to sophisticated workflow-based optimization than automation-focused platforms. If your needs center on composing and sending newsletters, compare editor usability, templates, audience segmentation, forms, testing, and reporting before paying extra for capabilities your team will not use.
#1 Best Overall
For ecommerce lifecycle marketing
ActiveCampaign’s guide positions Klaviyo and Omnisend around ecommerce triggers and revenue-linked workflows; GetResponse also labels both as ecommerce-focused. Compare the quality of each platform’s store integration and event data, product-content blocks, abandoned-cart and post-purchase flows, reporting, and any SMS or push charges. Confirm that the events and integrations your store depends on are available in the specific plan.
For advanced automation and CRM-connected journeys
ActiveCampaign describes itself as automation-first, and GetResponse also identifies it as a strong advanced-automation option. Compare trigger types, branching, behavioral data, predictive features, CRM requirements, and the plan tier needed to access each capability. A platform’s use of the word “automation” does not establish how much workflow depth it provides.
Rank #2
For CRM-led marketing
ActiveCampaign’s guide characterizes HubSpot’s approach as CRM-driven and notes that advanced automation depends on higher tiers. Check which package includes the particular automation, CRM, reporting, and user access your team needs, then calculate the combined cost of that package rather than comparing an entry-level price with another vendor’s more inclusive plan.
Recommended Free Tools
For transactional email or send-volume pricing
ActiveCampaign’s comparison says Brevo supports both marketing and transactional email. GetResponse presents Brevo as a send-volume-priced, multichannel option. If transactional delivery matters, verify current sending limits, the distinction between marketing and transactional messages, and any separate channel or volume charges directly with the provider.
Rank #3
For creators and newsletter businesses
GetResponse’s guide labels Kit as creator-focused and says GetResponse may suit creators who want email alongside broader monetization functions. Compare what you need for newsletter publishing and monetization—such as audience organization and the related business workflow—rather than choosing on campaign features alone.
How to compare plans without being misled by the starting price
A low advertised starting price does not establish what a platform will cost at your audience size or with the features you need. No complete, normalized price table for all 17 tools is established here, and plan pricing can depend on contact count, send volume, billing period, geography, included channels, and add-ons. Capterra’s 2026 pricing guide is described as comparing nine platforms using public vendor data, but its page was not available in readable form for a consistent check; its displayed figures should not be treated as a like-for-like price matrix.
Before comparing vendors, write down one realistic scenario and apply it to each candidate:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Current number of marketable contacts and expected list growth.
- Monthly campaign volume and, if relevant, transactional email volume.
- Required automations, integrations, and channels.
- How many team members need access and which roles or permissions they need.
For each candidate, check the same plan-level details:
Best Value
- Price at your current audience and at a plausible future audience size; note monthly versus annual billing and any discounts.
- Free-plan or trial limits, including contact and send caps, branding, and the point at which an upgrade is necessary.
- Whether the editor, templates, forms, landing pages, segmentation, and testing workflow meet your day-to-day needs.
- Which automation triggers, branches, behavioral events, and multistep flows are included at the relevant plan level.
- Whether ecommerce, CRM, transactional delivery, SMS, or push is included, and what each channel costs separately.
- What reporting, attribution, and support access are included.
Check automation depth, not just the feature label
Platforms can use the same label for capabilities that differ substantially in practice. ActiveCampaign’s comparison makes that distinction explicitly. For a workflow you actually plan to run, verify the trigger that starts it, the behavior or purchase data it can use, whether it can branch on conditions, and whether all required steps and channels are available in the plan you would buy. This is more revealing than counting a platform’s advertised automation features.
Account for migration before switching
GetResponse’s guide includes migration effort among its selection factors. ActiveCampaign warns that switching can take time, require data and workflow rebuilding, and potentially involve migration fees; that warning comes from a vendor comparison and should be treated as a consideration to verify, not a universal cost estimate. Before committing, identify which contacts, consent records, templates, integrations, and automations need to move, and ask the prospective provider what assistance and fees apply to your situation.
How to read deliverability and performance claims
Do not treat vendor-published deliverability or return-on-investment claims as a comparable ranking across these products. ActiveCampaign’s March 2026 guide reports that EmailToolTester’s tests gave ActiveCampaign a 94.2% deliverability rate and first place among 15 tools; the underlying test date and methodology have not been established here. That is a claim reported by ActiveCampaign, not a result independently verified for this comparison, and it does not establish how the other tools perform under the same conditions.
