The 10 best shows like Jack Ryan
1. The Terminal List
Choose The Terminal List if the combination of military action, a capable operative, and a government conspiracy is what you want to repeat. TV Guide describes James Reece as a Navy SEAL who pursues revenge after the government covers up what happened during a failed operation.

The key difference is Reece’s position: he is investigating and opposing government institutions, rather than working as a CIA analyst and operative. That makes this a strong match for the action-and-conspiracy ingredients, not for the intelligence-agency perspective.

2. Homeland
Homeland is the strongest choice here for CIA-centered espionage and political character drama. Its early story follows CIA officer Carrie Mathison as she investigates a returned prisoner of war who may pose a terrorist threat.
Expect a more psychologically focused series than Jack Ryan, particularly in the early seasons. Later seasons lean more directly into CIA work, so the emphasis shifts as the story develops.
3. Bodyguard
In Bodyguard, war veteran and police sergeant David Budd is assigned to protect Julia Montague, a controversial British Home Secretary. The tension comes from political danger and the complicated relationship between the person providing protection and the person receiving it.
Rank #2
- Movie dvd
TV Guide describes the series as six episodes, making it a compact option rather than a long-running espionage saga. Its British political setting also gives it a different scale and feel from Jack Ryan.
4. The Night Agent
The Night Agent is a fit if you want an agent pulled into a fast-moving government conspiracy with White House stakes. Sony Pictures Entertainment’s official series page describes a low-level FBI agent working in the White House basement, monitoring a phone that rarely rings—until a call draws him into a conspiracy reaching the Oval Office. Netflix classifies the show as political, spy, action, and conspiracy television.
Sony’s official page says season 3 is now streaming on Netflix. That statement does not establish availability in every country; check Netflix in your region for current access.
5. Reacher
Reacher blends action with investigation. Its protagonist is a former Army investigator who becomes involved in a small-town murder case and works with local police to uncover what happened.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →It shares a military background and investigative drive with Jack Ryan, but its cases have a smaller geographic and political footprint. Pick it for a lone investigator working through a case, not for globe-spanning intelligence operations.
6. Slow Horses
Slow Horses follows a group of MI5 agents at Slough House, a place for intelligence officers who have been sidelined. The team is drawn into real spycraft and conspiracies, but the show’s ensemble and dry, sardonic humor set it apart from Jack Ryan’s polished action-hero approach.
Rank #4
- Shrink-wrapped
It is a good choice if you value intelligence work and an ensemble dynamic more than large-scale action.
7–10. More ways to choose
The premise details available for this guide support six specific recommendations, not four additional titles. Rather than pad the list with unsupported picks, use these distinctions to decide which of the six fits your preferences.

- For CIA operations and character conflict: choose Homeland.
