In 007 First Light, New Game+ is a completion-gated campaign replay, not a new story path. After finishing the full campaign on any difficulty, you can replay from the beginning or a completed checkpoint with unlocked outfits and more freedom to switch gadgets during missions. The optional 00 difficulty adds a tougher challenge; it is not required to use New Game+.
What must you do to unlock New Game+?
Complete the entire campaign on any difficulty. IO Interactive says New Game+ unlocks after campaign completion, and the developer’s update notes clarify that this means finishing the full campaign. The feature arrived with the free Extended Operations update on October 1, 2026. IO Interactive’s announcement and the Update 1.3.0 notes describe the rules.

How checkpoints, outfits, and gadgets work
Choose a replay starting point
New Game+ lets you launch from the campaign beginning or a checkpoint you have completed. That gives you a way to revisit a portion of the story without treating an unfinished checkpoint as a confirmed starting option.
Change your look through the journal
New Game+ makes previously unlocked outfits available for replay. Select an outfit in the journal, then restart from a checkpoint for the selected look to take effect.

Swap gadgets within the mission
On a fresh run, gadgets unlock as you progress through missions. In New Game+, you can change gadgets during a mission rather than waiting for the next chapter, but the selection remains tied to story progress: a gadget must already be unlocked by that point. You do not get access to every gadget at the opening mission simply because you are playing New Game+.
What 00 difficulty changes
00 is an optional, harder difficulty unlocked by completing the campaign. It is separate from the New Game+ unlock: you can use New Game+ outfit and gadget options on Easy, Normal, or Hard as well. IO Interactive says 00 changes the challenge in these ways:

- Enemies react faster to bodies and disturbances.
- Some guard archetypes are replaced by tougher variants.
- Gadgets are restricted when a guard has them in their line of sight.
- Combat permits two-hit kills, with tighter parry and side-step timing.
- Fights generate less agency.
These changes make 00 a difficulty choice, not a requirement for a New Game+ replay. IO Interactive’s Extended Operations announcement lists the mode’s challenge changes.

Does New Game+ change the story?
The official feature descriptions establish new replay starting points, access to unlocked outfits, more flexible gadget swapping, and the option to play on 00. They do not promise new story outcomes or branching narrative content. IO Interactive has described the game’s approach to objectives as supporting stealth, loud combat, or improvisation, with Spycraft, Instinct, and Q Branch gadgets supporting different tactics; that context helps explain how equipment freedom can change an approach, but it is not evidence of a different storyline. What is not confirmed about carried-over progress?
The official New Game+ descriptions do not provide a complete account of whether upgrades, collectibles, challenge completion, or save-slot state carry over. They confirm unlocked outfit access and story-based gadget availability, but do not establish a broader rule that all progress or items transfer. Check the game’s current in-game prompts or official update notes for a specific progression category rather than assuming it works like New Game+ in another game.
